Leanne's Story
Hey there!
After high school, I went to FSU for a BS in geology. Graduated and went to work in the oil industry as an exploration geologist. Met hunky husband there and also attended grad school at SMU. Still happily married today!
Got my MS and we left Dallas for New Orleans. Continued career in oil patch, but added reliability engineering and fiscal management to my tool box. Lots of travel (and fun!) throughout USA and worked for a month in Sumatra, Indonesia.
Got sick while carrying our first boy (pre-eclampsia, you girls will know about) and had to deliver him by emergency c-section at 26 ...Expand for more
weeks gestation. Freaked us out!
Son weighed a tad over one pound and was in hospital for four months. Docs said he was high risk for all sorts of problems, so I retired and became an early intervention guru.
Couple years later, second son arrived a month early, but was a whopper...healthy!
Today, I'm a special needs mom who has started a 501c3 project called KidSense that builds sensory playgrounds at local elementary schools. Our oldest boy is fine today, but is on the autistic spectrum. From being a second trimester baby, he has become a smart, giggly, & kind little kid. Proud of all my men!
