Leawana's Story
Life, Well, I just returned from Aruba. This was my second visit to the island. There was six of us having fun. It was real hard to return to the colder weather. I love to travel, period, but prefer to fly. Love ya'll

As most of you know I didn't get to Graduate at Eastern. I was sent to a Children's Home in my junior year. I graduated at Highland High School in Anderson. Went to College in New York, joined the Army in Germany. Returned to the states in 1985.
Working and living in the Greenwood area with my husband Michael of 22 years. Having fun in life. We are enjoying each other now after all our children are on their own. We have 10 grand children and 3 on the way.
We took up flying powered parachutes about 11 years ago. We have a grass runway outside our front door and just simply love doing it. We have a two seater unit and we often go up after a long day. It really helps with the mood to just hop on and get away from it all and the fresh air helps. Traveling with three timeshares and cruising when possible. We vacationed in the carribean on a cruise, took a trip to Aruba and Branson, MO last year. We went to Kauai and the big Island of Hawaii this past winter. If anyone has been there, please share your experiences. My wish is to go to Alaska. I can't find an opportunity to go, since my husband Mike is a painter and that is his busy season.
We are Members of Indiana's Beekeeper's Association. They are facinating creatures. I actually went out and captured my first swarm in a bucket, off a tree branch, summer 2008 and road with it in the front seat of my car with my suit on. I had the air conditioner on to keep them cool. I'm glad I didn't get stopped or had a accident....explain that one to the cops. I started public speaking and educating the public about honey bees. I have been stung once. I knew that was your next question. Honey anyone!

dding and special occasion cakes. I have been practicing for about 15 years. It is just a hobby I enjoy but never see myself doing it for a living. They make great wedding and birthday gifts and save me money. They love them.
Putting God first in my life and helping others on mission trips. We returned from Putla City in Mexico around the first of Feb (08). We helped build a kitchen for a christian camp. I didn't think I would enjoy it, but, had an amazing experience. I volunteer for Tear Down The Walls Ministries on Wednesdays. What a great experience that has turned out to be.
I lost my younger sister Angela in 2001. Part of me died with her. I will never get over her dying completely. A loss like that is really hard to overcome but I have found strenth in prayer, friends and family. Both of my parents are gone now, as well. Most of you know the relationship I had over the years with my parents, so I hope they have found peace, I have forgiven them both.
My older sister Valerie Matthews is a surgeon in Tucson Az. She just bought a ranch outside of town and lives like a cowgirl. She is a Grandma of two now. Me and Val did a girls getaway to San Carlos Mexico. She got her Scuba diving certificate. I went snorkeling. I have a perferated ear drum so, diving is out for me. We drove on Hwy#1 in Mexico....What an adventure that was.
Most of you did not know that I also have three brothers, Joe, Harold and Ferrell Taffner. They are spread across America, have families of their own and are doing fine. Harold and his wife Dorris joined us in Aruba last winter and we had a blast. They have two children and have two grand daughters. Ferrell and Cathy's daughter just married but no grandchildren yet and Joe relocated in November. He is divorced and has three children and five grandchildren last I knew. I would love to hear from any of you that can remember me.
Take care and God Bless you all Leawana
