LEE's Story
Life
I was married to Terry Russell from Sackets Harbor, NY from 1967 to 1988. We had two sons Mark (born in 1970) and Tim (1977). Both were police officers in Florida (see pictures). Mark and his wife Shannon have a beautiful daughter Aubree Ann born in August 2007 and a son Ayden born June 2013. Tim, who was a Palm Beach County Deputy Sheriff, died in an automobile accident in December 2007, just a month after receiving a lifesaving award for rescuing a man who was drowning in a canal. In 1993 I married Dr. Sherri Aversa from Valrico, FL; Sherri died in a car accident in 1999.
In April 2005 I was married to Sonya Albury. Sonya was the Executive Director of the Health Council of South Florida for 12 years. Our gorgeous daughter Anastasia, who was born in Russia in 2000, was our flower girl (lots more pictures). y in Russia in 2005. In July 2007 we moved to Clemson, SC where I served as the Chair of the Department of Public Health Sciences at Clemson University. I retired from Clemson in 2019 after 43 years in higher education and live in Ormond Beach, FL where I do consulting work.
Workplace
Work: After college I taught at Heuvelton Central until 1972. I then left upstate NY & went to graduate school at Purdue. I got my Ph.D. in 1976 and moved to Gainesville Florida where I lived until 1994 and was a professor at the U. of Florida. I then moved to Champaign Illinois where I was a Dept. Chair at the U of Illinois from 1994 to 1999. I was a Professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine from 2000 until 2007. and served as Chair of the Department of Public Health Sciences at Clemson University. from 2007 to 2014. I retired from Clemson as Professor Emeritus in 2019.and returned tp Florida where I do consulting.
