Lee's Story

Important to me: I want to know all Gods thoughts; all the rest are just details. A. Einstein Life My Kids My grandchildren My kids all have been successful either in a career or in school for a career Playing my drums in a band for a live audience: nothing compares other than prayer. My Job I'm Disabled (not in a wheelchair or anything) but my mind doesn't function the way it is supposed to so I spend a lot of time fighting delusional thoughts, reading, watching TV, Hooking up with old friends and learning from the internet and reading - first of all The Word. It is a daily struggle, more like a life-or-death fight to maintain a presence in this world. Tried to leave it four different times in the last four years but kept coming back. No longer trying to leave. There will always be a tomorrow that may be better than today. I truly care for people and do what I can to help those less fortunate than I. College Blew it off after High School but went back to college in '90 and went half-time year-round through fall of '96 while working full-time and making up hours missed for classes. Came within 14 credit hours of a B.S. in Computing and Information Science then had to quit to help pay for my oldest daughter's education. Got all the requirements and had only electives left. I got the education I wanted, just no piece of paper to prove it. Also qualified for membership in Mensa High IQ Society and participated in the Honor Society at Oklahoma State University. Workplace I no longer work but am supported by Soc. Sec. Disability because of a malfunctioning mind that surfaced in about '92 and progressively gets worse. It's really tough and extremely strenuous, but having a good Psych. and the right meds I am able to live a fairly normal life. I last worked in the IT department for Creative Labs, Inc. in Stillwater, OK, for 7 years until Feb. of '07 before being asked to quit because my illness would too often make it too hard to get out of bed and go to work and face another day. Previously worked for Moore Business Forms also in Stillwater from '89 through '99 as Network Administrator until plant closure. Also have done some IT consulting work on the side. Worked as residential and commercial carpenter out of high school after blowing off NIACC and Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, IA, moved to OK...Expand for more
and worked comm. and res. Union Carpentery until going for more money in the oilfield. Spent 7 yrs. in the oilfield on 24/7 hr. call servicing wells in the process of being drilled or doing work on already completed wells. A very interesting but dangerous job. Fortunately, I never was injured. Have played in four different bands since turning 36 but no longer am in a band. Still have my drums, though. My son is a natural when it comes to playing drums and even being the front man singer and songwriter in the last band I played in. Military No military even though my number came up in the draft lottery and I went for a pre-induction physical but was not drafted cause I got reclassified 4Y as a minister. I hope my old classmates will forgive me for being standoffish but I was really shy and didn't feel like I fit in. Set my sights on Jill Frisbie and decided I wanted to prepare to spend the rest of my life with her but for some reason I wasn't the one she wanted. I would have liked to date more of the girls I went to school with but playing in bands all through High School took up most of my extra time and therefore I didn't really date at all. I paired up with girls that would hang out where whatever band I was in at the time would practice or meet at gigs we played. For some reason, though, drummers almost never get groupies. It was always the singers or the guitar players. Every once-in-a-while I would meet someone but I always had to approach them and gain their interest first rather than visa versa. Another obstruction for me was I have always been a one-girl man that wanted meaningful relationships and sex without at least a minimal amount of dedication and faithfulness was never satisfying. It was always better with someone I cared about and cared about me. My emotions probably run too deeply to be healthy but I would rather have loved and been loved and dumped even though the hurt has been very deep in breakups than to have had only superficial relationships. So much for all that. I now live alone and wish I could meet someone to spend the rest of my life with, someone who would love me with all their heart as I would them. Maybe it will happen, maybe not. But I'll never give up hope. I long to hold someone in my arms in total trust and comfort. Someday..... Are you out there, somewhere?
