Lee's Story
School
I attended Walnut Bend Elementary in Houston from 1968-1972. Some of my teachers were Mrs. Dugan, Mrs. Isles, Mrs. Jackson, and Mrs. Branch. We moved to San Augustine, TX, while I was still in 4th grade. I graduated from San Augustine High School in 1981. I started Centenary College in Shreveport, LA, in 1981 and graduated with a degree in Social Studies in 1985. I attended summer school at Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches and lived on campus in the summer of '84. I did my practice teaching at Byrd High School with Mrs. Whitehead, a remarkable lady. During summers after I started teaching school I attended Angelina Jr College, LSU-Shreveport and finally got a master's in gifted/talented from LA Tech in the fall of '95.
College
I LOVED my 4 years at Centenary. I lived in Sexton all 4 years and have fond memories of sitting up late with various dorm daddies and watching As The World Turns with Mrs. Horton. I was involved in BSU, Wind Ensemble, dorm council, Phi Alpha Theta, Steeple Worship. My favorite teachers were Sam Sam the History Man, David Jackson (English) and Dr. Hardaway in education. One of my favorite things was to sit at the piano in the SUB and play and sing for hour...Expand for more

Workplace
I began teaching in 1985 at Hemphill High School in the small town of Hemphill, TX. I taught high school English, Theater Arts and Geography for three years. I coached the one-act play. In 1988 I moved to Bossier City, LA, and taught in their gifted and talented program for 8 years. I mostly taught middle school Language Arts. My first few years were spent mainly at Benton Middle School and Cope Middle School. Other schools where I taught were GreenAcres Middle School, Parkway High School, Airline High School, Bossier High School, Kerr Elementary and Benton Elementary. In the spring of '96 I married Andy and moved to Houston. In 2007 we moved to Spring, a suburb of NW Houston. Although I got my master's, I haven't taught full-time since leaving LA. I sub at an awesome private school, teach children's choir, tutor and often teach in a home-school cooperative. This year I started teaching piano lessons and love it. I also play the piano for Bible Study Fellowship, children's choir, an antique mall and lead sing-alongs at several nursing homes. Andy and I are very active at our awesome church, Champion Forest, and we also love to go to Astros games.
