Lee's Story
Life
Reading this Bio could only mean you've run out of things to do to entertain yourself, short of watching the grass grow but, if you're really interested...here goes.
I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and joined the Marine Corps right after graduation from John Marshall H.S. (which both amused and appalled my former PhysEd teacher). From Boot Camp at Parris Island, SC to Basic Electronics at Marine Corps Base 29 Palms, CA (where i "tubed out" when the powers-that-be determined that I was "decreasing at an increasing rate"). Camp Pendleton, CA and artillery, here I come! After a couple of years paying my dues as a Radio Operator I'd gotten smart enough to get an Instructor job to teach the next flock of Field Radio Operators for the 1st Marine Division. Deciding to expand my horizons, the Marine Corps promoted me and sent me off to the nearest Marine Corps Air Station in El Toro, CA. Already having a surplus of radio operators in the air support squadron, I got the additional duty of "Career Planner" that, apparently, I did too well and got run off to Recruiter School. With my lack of foresight, I passed the course and landed in Ashland, KY. Nice people, lousy job but I gave it my best shot and was rewarded with an all expense paid trip to the 3rd Marine Division's Division Schools at Camp Hanson, Okinawa, Japan with another Instructor job. After a year in Japan, I was dragged to Kadena Air Base kicking and screaming...they MADE me come back! I ended up back at Camp Pendleton, CA right where I left off at the Field Skills Training S...Expand for more
chool; this time as a section NCOIC and Administrative Genius. After 4 wonderful years with a job like none I'll ever have again, I left the Corps with 12 years and have regretted that move ever since. Back to Cleveland where after a year of selling major appliances I went back to finish my military career in the Army Signal Corps. Four years in Karlsruhe, Germany and retired from Fort Stewart, Georgia. With time on my hands and a new bride, we wandered across the country to find a place to build a nest that the military would'nt uproot. Found what, at first, seemed to be the perfect place in Northeast Kansas (for all of you wise guys...I don't know Dorothy and haven't seen her dam dog but the broad that had the house fall on her didn't die...she lives next door). For the last 20 years I've been working for the Department of the Army as the Range Operations Supervisor (put THAT on a Name Tag!). I have two Stepdaughters and a grand daughter close by (I change the locks frequently) and belong to a couple of cats who have absolutely no idea what a cat is. I'm a 36 year member of the American Legion and was a Campaign Coordinator for Toys for Tots here for 11 years. I've recently taken a leap of faith for the benefit of my wife and taken up Square Dancing. Sounds a little campy maybe but it's a great social activity and quite the stress reliever. It's not hard to learn in a short period of time, I highly recommend it and I've even become a pretty good waltzer. So, thats a thumbnail life bio for me...greater details may be forthcoming on request ;-)
