I was born in Oswego, N.Y., where I attended St. John's Parochial School and two years at Oswego Catholic High School. My family moved to Stroudsburg, Pa., in 1966 and I graduated from Stroudsburg High in '68. I did graduate work at the University of North Dakota, went into journalism and worked 10 years in radio news, a brief stint in PR with the New York State Bar Association and 27 years with The Associated Press. I retired from AP in the summer of 2009 and I live in Helena. Mont., with my wife, Kathleen Sullivan.
