Len's Story

It seems like yesterday that I was young and going to school at Chattaroy. I remember we would get up early to the smell of Bacon frying and before we left our rooms to go down for breakfast we had to be completely ready to leave for school. Our beds had to be made our dirty clothes had to be picked up and taken to the clothes basket. Once we left our room to go down for breakfast we never went back to it. I remember the taste of my mothers Bacon, Eggs, Fried potatoes and good hot biscuits. We would eat before our long walk to school. I loved seeing who I would run into on my way to School walking along the old abandon Railroad all the way to school. As we started our trip it would be just me and my brothers but by the time we got there we would be a group of fifty or more. All telling how their evening went and what we planned to do after school. We all had plans to go in the hills and look for Beechnuts or Walnuts. Some might have their favorite big rock they would visit and watch the beautiful sunset. We all seem to have different plans but we shared so much and enjoy...Expand for more
growing up together in the mountains. We all seem as one family always looking out for one another and crying with each other when we lost a love one. Life was really good there in that Time and I don't think I will ever find that life again but it lives in side my heart. Every family that lived along that creek and Railroad was special to me and I love them. I can remember going to trade funny books and coming home in hurry to read the new ones I got from my trip and trade with my friends. I still love that place in the mountains and will always be thankful for my childhood with all my friends along that creek that is far away in miles but yet so close in my heart. I ask God every day to bless every one I ever knew. I ask him to show his love to them and one day let us all be together in his home and always be like those days in the mountains along my little Creek where the Church, The School and the Home was the center of my world. God bless each of you and I hope this stirs some special memory in you today and makes you smile and remember Jesus loves you and so do I.
