I went straight on to Rhode Island School of Design after high school. My family moved to St. Petersburg, FL from Ellington in 1968. I was still at RISD. I graduated in '71 with a BFA in menswear design. I went to Europe on a Textron fellowship the next year, Lived in London and Rome most of that year and spent a little time in Paris. When I returned from Europe, St. Pete. just seemed like home. I did some costume design and some clothes for rock groups then in 1973 I went to NYC with my portfolio. But a recession had begun and design jobs were scarce. I had been dabbling in stained glass as a hobby/side interest. So after a year I headed back to St. Pete to transfer my design talents to the glasswork I had become fascinated with.
