Lenore's Story
Life
I have been a navy wife for over 15 years. We've lived in California, back to NY for a few years, Virginia Beach for 5 years and then New Orleans, Louisiana 9 months before Katrina. Don't believe the hype folks the place is still hurting. If you want to help however, I do not recommend going through a big institution.
My kids went to Carolyn Park Middle school and Bayou Woods Elementary...They both lost thousands of dollars in supplies and books. if you have the means, then help these schools. The teachers stayed all year, most in trailers with very few possessions, and made it a great year for the kids.
I have 2 sons, I now homeschool them both. Jonah is 13 and quite a whiz when it comes to animals and Ryan is 7 and he is just a whiz. I needed to y...Expand for more
ank them out of the TN system (this is where we live now) Ryan was able to skip a grade with one of the most respected correspondence schools, I am quite proud of him! Jonah is my right hand man when it comes to teaching hebrew. I teach to adults on base and he makes sure everyone is on the same page. He is wonderful, and I couldnt be prouder of either of them!
They have been through a lot in their little lives and have adapted better than a lot of adults I know!! Anyway I am hoping to move back to va bch. Memphis has its qualities but its not New Orleans and its not virginia beach!!! Just found out they are discharging my husband before july. 17 years in the navy and its come to this! We don't know where we are heading to next. Off to the next adventure!!!
