Les's Story
Life:
I spent alot of time looking for trouble as a teenager. And boy could I find it. Now I spend alot more time helping people find their way out of trouble. People used to call me wild now they call me pastor! What a surprise! Just goes to show everyone what God can do! Along with the title of "pastor" I have many other titles. One of the greatest is "daddy". I have 5 children who are rapidly making their own way in this world. As of the time of this posting, two of my daughters are married and have given me yet another title, Kappa (grandpa for those who are traditional), my son will soon be giving me a third grandchild, sometime in November 2009. My two daughters that are still at home and in school are keeping me busy and making me realize just how special life is. Yet another title is "husband", yes Christy often refers to me as "husband", usually when I'm in trouble. But hey, I figure that it is much easier to ask forgivness than to ask permission, right. On 6/12/2009 we celebrated 25 years of marriage and what an adventure that has been. Another title that I have is "rancher", Christy and I own a small but busy spread here in west Texas. And another title that I have is "business owner", Now this title is the title that I have to use to financially support the hobbi...Expand for more
es of daddy, husband, rancher, kappa, and certainly pastor.
Life has been very good to me and my family, but very different than I thought that it would be and I know this is only by the grace and mercy of God.
College
Three college degrees and soon to be Dr. Les Rutherford
Workplace
Pastor the Lubbock Maranatha Church of God. I have been in the full time ministry since Jan. 1993 and this is my second church. I love what I do and I suppose that is what makes it such a tremendous blessing. I expect to remain as a pastor for the next, oh let us say 50 or 60 years. I also own a small but busy ranch here in west Texas, the "Covered R Ranch". I grew up in the cattle and agriculture industry before getting far away from it as a teen and young adult. But as the saying goes, "You can take the boy out of the country, but you cannot take the country out of the boy. I truely enjoy ranching, working with my horses and living where my nearest neighbor is miles away.I also own an Automotive Repair Center called Post Automotive. I began working for this company in 1995 and purchased it in 2001. This was my third time to own an automotive business, the other two I sold. This one seems to have stuck or maybe it is because I have grown up and settled down and quit chasing the next rainbow.
