Lesa's Story
Yep, thats right. The guy with me may look familiar to some of you. He's Mark Steele (class of 82). His sisters Theresa and Virginia also went to UNI. We just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary, but have been together since Halloween of 1981. We're happily married with two wonderful sons (really!). We moved to New Jersey in 1996 after our business was bought and it was one of the stipulations. Looks like we'll stay although we would like to retire somewhere on the coast up north in CA (Carmel, Santa Barbara, etc). I haven't worked in 20+ years (an agreement before we married) even though I went to F.I.D.M. for Interior Design and had a great job I loved when we married.
As a family we enjoy target shooting and Mark will soon begin training for his NRA trainers license. My son Michael is a really accurate shooter. The laws in NJ are tough re gun ownership. Some may wonder how I can be a Christian and believe in gun ownership. I believe in the Second Ammendment. I believe I have the right to protect my life with a gun. The guys shoot Glocks; I shoot a Smith & Wesson (although I think secretly Mark really prefers my S&W).
Our two dogs are both purebred Pomeranians with papers and we were surprised to find out they share the same Grandmother (even though they come from different states). Spoiled of course! Hershey came from a rescue shelter and he's my baby. Nilla came from a breeder and he's Marks baby. I believe God called us to Nilla because he was to be killed by the breeder very soon. You wouldn't even believe the blizzard we drove through to get the silly dog. We do not believe in the purchase of animals from breeders. Nilla was very inexpensive so the breeder wanted him sold. We think he was dropped on his head as he's really...well dumb and he thinks he's a cat. He also is cross-eyed. So God called me to Nilla. I would like to have a couple more Poms, as well as some chickens, a rooster, a miniature horse and someone to clean up after them. Poms are really barky...Expand for more
dogs though...sometimes they go on time-outs for their insessant <sp> barking.
Lets see what else. One of the reasons I married Mark is because he is just so smart...genius really. And he's really funny too. Keeps me laughing all the time. Mark works for a company I woudn't know how to explain except to say that they have the name Financial Excecutives <sp> in their name and he is VP for the IT dept. They're a non-profit. Mark lost his job a couple yrs ago for 13 months. It was hard at times, but thanks to God and also refreshing our faith and provision we came through it. Our lifestyle has changed dramatically and I think for the better. We were materialistic more than we should be (trips, designer labels, designer food, designer cars etc) which really don't line up with our way of thinking anyway. So we know live on approx 1/4 of the income we had and we also lost about one million in stocks. But like I said, its turned out to be a good thing for us as a family; its restored our love to a much greater level than ever before. Praise Jesus.
We are a Christian (Evangelical- Calvary Chapel) family after a long hard road of being prodigals (we first walked in to Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa before Pastor Chuck in 1982 and gave our lives to Christ then, but fell in to the sin of sexual promiscuity)....drugs, alcohol, pornography, if u can think it we did it. After all of that, Jesus saved us from all of our sins through His grace. He actually forgave us, paid the price in full for our filthy sins. It's only by this grace that our marriage was saved and we believe our lives. Today we live joyfully in the fullness of Christ. Mark and I serve as the Hospice Ministry leaders at our church; Mark also serves as an Usher. Jesus loves you too and will do the same for you if you just ask Him to. If you want this peace and want to know Jesus, but don't quite know what to "do", email me and we can talk about it. I pray each of you reading this find peace and the joy you seek today. With Love--Lesa
