Lester's Story
Hi!
Let me start of with, You could say that I am somewhat of an Icon when it comes to Beggs. I was 1 of 17 young men, that started the pilot program to start Beggs. There were the 17 of us boys and I think it was two instrutors that we had. We strted in the basement of Tech High, just before it burnt down. We then moved to the shops behind where the school was, our lunch was brought in to us from another school. I was told by one of the instructors, that the future of Beggs depended on how well we did. I think that was in 1969 and the following year Beggs opened it's doors
I graduated on June the 2nd 1972 and went into the ARMY on june the 22nd 1972. Then I spent around the next 20 years in the military traveling between the U.S. and Europe. I lost touch with all my school friends. I had married twice while I was in the military, once for 6 years and once for four. While in the military I got to see all four corners of this graet nation of ours and in between. I spent three tours of duty in Germany , and while there I got to see places like France, Spain, Denmark,Luxembourg and Italy. I even spent some time in Honduras, when I was stationed in California, at The Presidio of San Francisco.
When I had finished the military and returned home I had already bee...Expand for more
n divorced from my second wife. I lived in Florida for a couple years, then I moved to Alabama for a couple. Then in april 1996 I moved to California. I took up a job working as a Bouncer in a Nightclub. That is where I met my wife I have now, on sept 22nd and we have been together since then. We finally married on 13 march 2004. Through her, because of her first marriage, I have nine grand-children. The oldest is 25 and his lilttle sister is the youngest at 4.
We moved to Texas in nov 1998 and this is where we have lived since. Someone once said to me (You must really like Texas to live here). My reply was " I live her because this is where my Wife wants to live right now. So where ever she wants to live, is where I'll call home.
I was hurt when I had herd that the original Beggs had burnt down years ago.Because I can't visit it's hallways to remember the days gone by. To also remember the friends that I had left behind all those years ago. Now can I ask any of you, might you have an extra High School Yearbook from 1971 or 72 I would gladly pay you for it. All my graduation pictures and my Yearbook came up missing through the years that I was in the military. It would be great to hear from you.
