Leta's Story

Life I never made it into the US Navy like I had planned, Carmen (June 1989) came along and changed my plans for me =) I attended Davenport College for a year (1989-90) until I married and moved to San Diego, CA. Met my husband, Bill, in May 1986. We did not marry until May 1990 (yes we have been married almost 15 yrs.. what is wrong with me =). We moved to San Diego, CA, in Aug 1990 as he was stationed at 32nd Street Naval Station, first on the USS Chandler (DDG 996) and then at SIMA (shore duty). He left the US Navy in Nov 1993 and we moved back to Michigan to help his elderly parents (yes elderly. His mom - 58 but very sick and his dad 75 at the time). Our son Trevor was born in San Diego (Jan 1992) and our daughter Jessica was born the year after we returned to Michigan (Nov 1994). We have been living in Gobles (yes on a dirt road too hehe) for almost 10 years and enjoy it very much =) H...Expand for more
ow can you all live in the noisy busy city?? I go crazy whenever I actually have to go into town =) Bill and I are attending KVCC working on our Associates degrees in Computer Programming (yep we are doing it together). I am also pursuing an Associates Degree in Accounting along with the one in Computer Programming. I also design Web pages and research our family genealogy in my spare time (approx 12,000 individuals now!). Bill is in the Army National Guard serving in a signal (communications) company in Kalamazoo.. And yes he was deployed to Iraq. He left April 14, 2003 for Kansas; arrived in Kuwait June 14, 2003; came home on leave November 1-17, 2003; and then returned back here May 8, 2004. It was a very long 13 months, but we wouldn't change anything about it. And if he is called to serve again, we will embrace that just as we have all his deployments in his 19 years of military service.
