Letty's Story
Life
After graduation from Mercedes High School,in 1968 I attended Pan American University and completed my BA in English and Speech. I married my first husband Ben Azios who I met at Pan Am and moved to Houston. We had one child a daughter - Kristine Nicole. I have been a middle school and high school English, Reading, ESL, and Speech teacher in the following school districts: Gregory-Portland, Houston, Aldine, Progreso, and Los Fresnos. As you can see I moved around quite a bit. This was due to my husband's employment. He was a football coach. I have also taught educational administration classes at the University of Texas at Brownsville where I earned one of my two Masters degrees. My first Masters was in Education and I received that from the University of Houston and my second Masters is in Educational Administration. Ben and I divorced in 1980 and two years later I was introduced to my current husband, Bo Rodriguez by my cousin Irma Martinez. We married and merged our two families. ith him. I am proud to say that this September we will have been married 25 years. In 1993 Bo retired from his job as an Investment Banker with Texas Commerce Bank, and we relocated to the Rio Grande Valley. We live Rancho Viejo a golf resort 10 miles from Brownsville. As you probably guess my husband GOLFS! I ,on the other hand, have not yet retired and am currently the Dean of Instruction at San Benito High School. My responsibilites are curriculum and instruction and state assessments such as the TAKS test. I am not a grandmother yet but I do have two wonderful dogs (Cockers) who I named after my two favorite Beatles - Lennon and McCartney. My daughter lives in McAllen and she is a Resource teacher with the Weslaco School District. My husband and I love to listen to Jazz and Blues, travel, and just relax at the beach. I haven't done anything that I would consider major in my life except the normal things, but I do consider myself blessed. I am very thankful to God for everything He has done in my life and for every blessing he has bestowed.
