L. Sharon Nethercutt's Story
Been gone from Longstreet High School 57 years! September 3rd marks mine and Bobby's 57th wedding anniversary! To say I have been married all this time to my wonderful husband is bragging!! (and they said it wouldn't last, among other things!!!) I became an official Texan then, too...We have rodeoed, Bobby taught school in Beckville, I drove a school bus and coached girls basketball, we had a beautiful daughter in Nov. '68, we opened a western store and trophy shop in Marshall and had it 10 years, we showed horses and cattle, we moved to Brenham and managed the Brangus show barn and showed for Willow Springs Ranch for 5 years. We left there and moved to New Mexico where we managed Flying C Travel Center for a couple of years. We moved back to Beckville and opened 2 businesses, ...Expand for more
a wood broker yard, and 32 rental houses. There we built our home on the home place and built another arena and a 10 horse barn and bunk house. We were there for 25 years and had many ropings, parties and get togethers. We even had a wedding reception at our bunkhouse with about 100+ in attendance! Great memories were made during these years! During this time we learned that cruising was a great way to relax and have a different kind of fun! We moved to SanMarcos in 2019 to a 55+ Active Adult Community where we are now. A new home, new surroundings, new friends, rivers to float, new adventures to have! We haven't stoped, but slowed down and are enjoying our cruising and all the great things to do in Central Texas! Just a hint of our adventures, 'cause we're not stopping yet!!!
