Lila's Story
Life
It has been a long time....married to Frederick (Mac) Maxwell for over 37 years now. We have three daughters, five grandchildren and 1 great grandson. My husband is retired after 30 years in the Army with the rank of Colonel. We have lived in many places for the past thirty years and enjoyed the many cultures we have experienced. The place we loved most was Hawaii, the climate was perfect and the sailing great most of the time.
I am now living in Salemburg, NC, been there since Jan. of 2007. This month (May) my daughter, Melanie, and I opened an art gallery in Salemburg. The art gallery is located on Main Street in Salemburg, NC and the name is "the Old Millstone Gallery". You can check us out by going to theoldmillstonegallery. We have quite a few local artist hanging in the gallery and about 30 members in the art club (Studio 242 Art Club) which is located in the gallery. We are the first and one and only gallery and art club in Sampson County.
This has been a dream of mine for years, I love to draw and paint and Melanie designs beautiful jewelry. Please come visit us and see what we have to offer you. It would be great to hear from some of you an...Expand for more
d to see you visit us.
Mac tinkers in antiques and collectables in the store next door to the gallery. His prices are actually very reasonable compared to larger cities. If he isn't in we are there to open for him.
Our home is full of animals.....we have two birds, Rocco is a Green Wing Macall and Coco is a Cockatoo....we had one dog, Zeus, which weight over 85 pounds, but another one (a puppy that lookd like Zeus) followed Mac home from his walk and now his name is Apollo. Melanie has two dogs, Norm and Bogy, they are small ones compared to our two dogs.....now we must not forget Xena, she is the most wonderful cat alive....we adopted her from the Cumberland County Animal Shelter the same time we adopted Zeus, her name was Bean (who would name a cat that) and she was going to be put down the next day (we didn't know that until after we said we wanted her)....she has become the love of my life..so sweet and adorable.
Now you know what we have been doing around this in the middle of nowhere town...we keep busy and have met lots of great people. Maybe you should check this county out...the taxes are lower than the surrounding counties and the people are very nice.
