Lillian Smith:  

I was born right outside of Nashville, TN, but grew up in Alexandria, LA. I attended North Bayou Elementary, Alexandria Junior High and Alexandria Senior High.I have sister, Linda (Kay) Charlton, who lives in DeRidder, LA and two brothers, Dennis Kay, who lives in Leesville, LA and Charles Hopper, who lives in Harper Texas. I recently found out I had another sister, Charlotte Fancher, who lives in Karnack, TX. That's a long story, but we're happy to have her. My Mom, Billie Kay, died almost 21 years ago. God rest her soul. If you knew her, you knew and angel on earth. My father, Jack Toby Kay, died in 1971. He was a deputy with the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Department. I dropped out in the 10th grade after my father was killed and left Alexandria for Jacksonville, Florida. I married James Johnson in 1972 and we had two wonderful sons, Jamie who will soon be 36 and Jeramie who just turned 31. After 10 years in the Army, which carried us to Homestead,FL, Berlin, Germany, Ft. Bragg, NC, and Washington, DC, we finally left the Army and settled in Harlem, GA, where our boys grew up and they still live there. My husband and I were divorced many years ago and I am now very happily married to Lawrence Smith. We live in Martinez,GA, a suburb of Augusta, GA. I have worn many hats over the years, to include of course, mother/wife, and PTA President, Booster Club President, County Commissioner, (boy that was hoot), commercial Realtor, Insurance Agent and marketing/advertising sales executive, which included radio, TV and print.
