Linda's Story

I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were very wrong. The wildest thing I ever did was that tme we had the sit-in and everyone refused to go to class until they changed the dress code and stuff. I live in the Dallas, Texas area. I went to San Diego, California when I went in the Navy. After I got out I stayed there for a while and then went back home. I left again after my first marriage ended and went back to California and lived there until we moved to Texas 13 years ago. After 8 kids and lots of grandkids, I have settled into someone who really enjoys life and friends and family. Mostly, I am Mom to everyone - my kids friends and spouses, whatever, neighbor kids...even my friends kids call me mom :) I am now working as a photographer and that is my true calling. I'm an ordained minister, but photography is what I love the most...capturing those expressions on kids' faces...capturing personalities for everyone to see...Just give me a camera and I will shoot all day, all night.... I blow off steam by listening to country music or reading a good book. My Dad is my hero. He always worked hard and never complained much. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Barbara Allen, because she was my best friend in school. The second person, if she were still living, would be Mrs. Belcher. If anyone remembers, she was our teacher in elementary school. She was also a family friend and I think about her often and miss her to this day. If I won $100 million, I'd give 10% of...Expand for more
it to my church, then spend the rest on making sure my mother was taken care of for the rest of her life, buying homes for all my kids who don't own their own home yet and opening a cool photo studio with lots of sets where people could dress as their fantasy character and just have fun getting photos done. My current age is 52. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be almost dead. I was so completely wrong!. My best friend would tell you I'm crazy, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as ...well, crazy. I love to have fun, and doing something drastic on the spur of the moment is not unusual!. I share my home with my husband, two of my 8 kids, and three dogs, which I find to be pretty wonderful. I have no trophies. I was never into sports much, but I do have a lot of awards for my photography. If I was offered one "do over" I would have to decline it. My life has not always been perfect, but it's mine and I have no regrets. My oldest friend recently passed away. He was like a brother to me. We met in San Diego when I was pregnant with my daughter Lauren. John was there to help me through some tough times and he never asked anything of me or made demands. He was just there. What about me would surprise everyone at my high school reunion....Well, I am not so shy and quiet any more. I've evolved into someone who is very confident and secure in myself. One childhood memory I will never forget is the time I helped my cousin Rob shovel "fertilizer" into our grandpa's garden. I think we wore more of that stuff than the garden did!
