Linda's Story
Life
After graduation from Carl Sandburg High School, I began a self-financed educational odyssey beginning at Western Illinois University and culminating at Washburn University with a J.D. I graduated with honors in 1981. My husband and I moved to Texas, and I passed the Texas Bar with a "B", then became a District Attorney in El Paso for several years. sional bits and pieces of legal work.
In our 28th year of a happy marriage, my husband died suddenly of a tragic choking accident in 2004. Although I still am an active member of the Bar, my attention has since been concentrated more on my children, now 22, 21 and 18. My oldest son graduated early from Valparaiso University with honors Dec. '07, and my middle son is a Junior at CU Boulder. My daughter is a Senior in H. S., being home schooled, and does stadium jumping. She hopes to compete in Junior Grand Prix on her new horse, an Oldenberg imported from Germany.
Ike hit September 13, 2008, substantially altering my short-term plans. That is what makes life so rich. I have been learning so much about wall board and mudding! And dealing with insurance adjusters is peachy. We will be roughing it cooking through the holidays this year, but the kids are home, the house is full, and life is good.
