Linda's Story

Life After high school,(it bored me to death!) I entered the University of Southern Colorado and found that I actually loved math and Chemistry. I programmed computers at Wadley Institute of Molecular Medicine for a few years, before going to work as a laboratory and surgical assistant for a group of Forensic Pathologists that did contract work for the Dallas County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. I found I preferred the Medical side of my career, and returned to doing Cancer and Leukemia research for Dallas Diagnostics while maintaning calibrations of all equipment. I returned to school, taking various classes over the years, which I still enjoy. I then became a Cross-Country Truck Driver. During this career, I became an instructor and was licensed by the Texas Department of Public Safety. I took a couple of years break and wrote for a newspaper in New Mexico. I still drive locally hauling steel and specialized loads. I only run Colorado, and get paid for going to places like Steamboat Springs,Breckenridge and Aspen. I am now studying Quantum Physics, and Native American Tradtionalism, and being fluent in Spanish it has prompted me to learn to speak the Apache and Navajo language. I haven't decided what I want to do next!! I have been fortunate enough to have been the kind of person and had the confidence to go for the gold in life. For any of you that really knew me, I have always been that way, and it has taken me to many accomplishments and first's in my life. I was one of the first women that U.P.S. hired as a driver; and one of the first women that taught Hunter Safety and Pistol and Shotgun classes for the "American Sportsman Club", and the State of Mississippi. I played Semi-Professional soccer in the early and mid-seventies in Dallas, while soccer was still in it's infant stage. I made the 2nd cut for the "Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders" in 1976.( the third round was talent, and I withdrew!) And I hold the 2nd place title in Womens Arm Wrestling championships in the State of New Mexico.(1989) I still stay in shape and work out at the gym at least 3 times a week. In College I had the unique distinction of being the only fool to spend two years of my life trying to disprove Einstein's Un...Expand for more
ified Feild Theory.( for those of you who are familiar, it is not a mistake; it's a flaw somewhere in the second step?) I couldn't find it! But as I said earlier; I haven't figured out what I want to do next, and now that will probably make sense. I would enjoy hearing from some of you. I have thought of many of you over the years, and how many other people have we known for 40 to 50yrs.? I hope that this finds any who read this doing well, and hope you have had, and have as much fun in life as I do. Sincerely To All, Linda C. Grijalva Update... I am now an Instructor and Safety Director at a School that is an Independent testing center for the State of Colorado Commercial Drivers License. I am thouroughly enjoying being single and recently had an offer from the State of Florida doing the same job. I will certainly consider it if the money is right, as that would be an ideal place to retire. I made the move to Florida, but am in a completely different feild of endevor doing maintenance at the apartment complex where I live. It's quite challenging at times and I sometimes think I have sped up instead of slowing down as I get older., but it definately keeps the mind active and I like the 50 yard commute to work and the fact that shorts are the normal attire here. Shorts and a Polo t-shirt are Forida Formal Wear. Works for me! Still looking for my next Great Move and that Winning Lottery Ticket, but in the meantime still enjoying good health and life's everday surprises! I now live in a small town in Illinois about 80 miles South of Chicago and getting use to the cold weathet is going to be a trip. I am retired now and finally going to persue my passion for writing. I did write for awhile for a small newspaper in New Mexico called the Mesilla Valley Perspective, but this time I am writing for myself. I have the Introduction, the contents and a few pages of the fiest chapter written. It's called ( How to Train a Neanderthal)...Sorry guys...It is written as a sardonic comedy with paradoxical overtones. I figured I would try my hand at writing since retirement bores me to tears and while I am still waiting on that winning lottery ticket. My life is still a Rodeo and I love it and being single.
