Life I was married to Dallas Hyde of Willows, and had two wonderful children with him, a son, Dallas III and a daughter, Taunya. We divorced and I married a man named Robert Merchant and had a wonderful son with him, Shaun. Robert and I moved back to the Portola area in 1989. Robert passed away in 1993. I am single now. I lost my precious mother, Nona Conner, in October of 2000. Shortly after that, I was in an accident that drastically changed my life forever. My beautiful daughter, Taunya Hyde, was also in that accident with me and died. Life has never been the same. I spend a lot of time with my two sons and my grandchildren. I have my own business and my youngest son works with me. I love to travel and want to go across the entire United States someday. I love baseball and going to see the Giants play in San Fransisco. I love to go hiking, fishing, camping and do anything outdoors. Spending time with my grandchildren is what takes up most of my time. I also love to cook and do cake decorating. My passions are my two sons, and my grandchildren, they are what I live for. I also like to do a lot of community projects. During those previous years, I was a ranch cook for the Balsdon Ranch near Grimes and then worked at Bill and Kathy's Restaurant in Dunnigan. After that, Louis Cairo's in Williams. Robert and I were in an accident in January of 1983, I didn't work again after that for years because I spent all my time, caring for him. He passed away in 1993. A few years after that, I was the cafeteria cook at Plum Valley School in Paynes Creek. I also worked on homes that I had purchased. Due to an injury I received at Plum Valley School, I had to leave that job and also had to quit remodeling homes. UPDATE: August-2007. Just got back from Plumas County. I went to the 1967 Class Reunion for Portola High School this weekend had a great time. Even though it was not my graduating class, it was really nice to get to see everyone after so many years. Everyone looked great and seemed to be having a wonderful time. Carolyn Johnson did a great job and it was much appreciated by all! UPDATE: November-2007. Since I signed up on Classmates, I have been reunited with so many of my classmates from all the different schools that I have attended. I have been in contact with Robert Johnson, Rod Ellis, both are old friends from Willows. I have also made new friends through Classmates. I received a...Expand for more
n email from Joe Perez, we went to school with each other in Portola and Willows, we continue to email each other. I went to Railroad Days in Portola with Diana Neeley. We are best friends now. I stopped in Lovelock to visit Robert Anderson, we went rock hunting and had so much fun getting to know each other again. After that, I went to Medford, Oregon to visit with Randy Weaver and his wife Joyce. I also went to Spokane and got to see Jim Largent and Helen(Naimo)Vincent. Helen is such a joy to be around and it was great to have the opportunity to go out and have fun with her for the day. Mary Davis from Elk Creek contacted me and I finally found Bernette Millsaps, also from my Elk Creek school years. Rhonda Aradoz and I are back in contact now, she was also from Elk Creek. I found my friend, Linda Johnson(Scholl), that I went to school in Willows with and we met in Orland a few weeks ago and had a wonderful time catching up on all the years that we haven't seen each other. If it wasn't for Classmates, I wouldn't have all these wonderful people back in my life. It has been so much fun getting reunited with all of them!!! I am also in contact with a lot more classmates via emails. I just wished a lot more of you that are on Classmates, would put some pictures on your profile so we can see what you look like, THEN and NOW!!! Look forward to hearing from more of you! Update: To all my friends and family, I am going to Texas, off on another new adventure!!! I hope to see some of my family and friends while I'm back there. Hopefully, I will be back early next year before tornado and hurricane season starts in that part of the country!!! I am in Texas!!! Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to all of you!!! Update: I am leaving for California in the morning. Things didn't work out in Texas. Off on another new adventure!!! Shaun, my son and I are going to go to Dallas, Texas, then to the Grand Canyon. Update: (July 3, 2009)I am finally back in California, it is so nice to be back home!!! I don't think that Texas is for everyone, it is just so hot and humid out there. Update: Had a great time at the reunions on August 8TH. The most fun I have had in a very long time. Sometimes in life we just need to stop and appreciate all the wonderful people in our lives and let them know just how much they mean to us and that they are loved. You might not get a second chance to do that, never take life for granted!!!
