Linda's Story
I was Linda Rye and graduated in 1969 from Jones Valley High School. After graduation I went to work for Birmingham Police Department and worked until I got married to Al Hall. He was in the Air Force so we moved around for about 10 years. We had 2 boys. They are both electricians and live in Tuscaloosa. Each of them have 3 kids apiece. 10 years after graduation I went back to school and got my nursing license at Shelton State College in Tuscaloosa. I really enjoyed school this time around and I had a 4.0 average. I was also working a full time job at Partlow.
I got divorced from Al and a year later got remarried to Curtis Ervin. We have one son Kyle. He just graduated from high school. We live in Sulphur, LA. That is 20 miles from the Texas state line on Interestate 10. We are abour 45 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. I worked at Bryce Hospital in Tuscaloosa for 15 years. Then we moved to LA. It is really nice here except for the hurricanes. Hurricane Rita came in right through Sulphur in 2005. We were lucky. Didn't have much damage to the house but my yard looked like a bomb went off in the yard.
I have 7 grandkids and 7 step grandkids. Most of them live in Tuscaloosa and I don't get to see them unless I go to Alabama to visit. I was married to Al for 17 years and I have been married to Curtis for almost 20years. He is really pretty good husband.

computer a lot but I still have a lot of running around to do. I met Curtis for lunch when he works in town.
I have developed asthma since I moved here and was hospitalized at least twice a year with asthma, but they have got me on medication to help build up my immune system and thank God I haven't been in the hospital for almost a year now.
Wednesday I am going into the hospital and having a right total knee replacement. Please keep me in your prayers.
I have really enjoyed joining classmate and getting in touch with some of the people that I went to school with. I hope to get in touch with more of them.
I always wanted to be a nurse when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a wonderful idea. As it turns out, they were right.
The wildest thing that I remember doing in high school was to spray air freshner in Mrs. Wainright class because it always smelled in there and I got sent to the office for doing it.
My first job was at at Birmingham Police Department , where I got paid about $ 7.50 an hour to answer emergency calls and dispatch the police to the calls. What I remember most about it is how busy it got when it rained because of the wrecks. We had a mental handicapped man call every time there was something goiing on in Birmingham and said that a brown pontiac was involved in some crime. I also had to call the telephone operater to get an address for a women that had overdosed. That process took almost an hour but the lady was alive when got there and she recovered in the hospital/.
