Linda's Story
Life
Born and raised in Lenzburg,IL ,I moved to Marissa my freshman year of highschool. The song "Them were the days" accurately describes how I yearn for them, yet would not change any of today!
Today I wear an older woman's clothes, but not so old, I can't still wear bicycle jerseys,(I am going to participate in Lance Armstrong's "RIDE FOR THE ROSES" in Austin, TX this October). I used to wear equestrian clothes when I rode "Stormy", my school horse, but at 28 and 58, he is retired and I don't want to ride any other, so I go to the stables to comb him and talk to him.
At home, I have my beloved "Lucky" dog, a 7 year old cocker spaniel, and "Don", a beloved 56 year old second husband ( I didn't like the first). We live in the 'virtual' country on 3 acres of land. It used to be the real country until a super highway was added to the scenery. It is home, though, and now that It is wearing 'new clothes' (we just remodeled inside and out), Don and I can settle back into the things we really like to do, he restoring old Farmall tractors, and I biking, camping, traveling to Paris, driving all over Wisconsin and Minnesota and visiting a daughter in Cornish, ME, a daughter in Madison, WI, a daughter in Lacrosse, WI, and a daughter in Armstrong, IL. There are 4 little granddaughters that round out the family system. I married into anothe...Expand for more
r family that I also enjoy visiting.
For fun, I work the night shift on a Behavioral Health Unit,4 nights a week as an RN whose primary job is to outthink my patients. Sometimes I win!!!I wouldn't want it any different, the pay is good and life is very adventurous. It keeps me young.
Speaking of young, my mind is in a fantasy state whenever, I catch glimpses of its wanderings into the 'what was'. You are all perpetually stuck in life as highschoolers or collegians who haven't aged a bit. I look in the mirror, and although pleased with the fine aged woman I have become, I am hoping that you, too, think of me in that pleasant time warp of life referred to as
"the good old days"!

I retired from psychiatric nursing the end of April, 2007 and have enjoyed visits with my children and grandchildren. My daughter and I go to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia at least once a year. We both have acreage there, beautiful undeveloped land. My three acres is a development of more than 50 plots. There are only three plots with houses on them. I am developing my plot into a Sacred Garden. I have placed several types of chairs scattered around the field and in the wooded areas. I love going there to celebrate a rare Satori.
In my home front and back yard, I am developing several places where I can go and savor "life in the moment".
