Linda's Story
(Updated 12/31/23)
Following graduation from Lake Central I immediately started my first job at Smith & Hilbrich, attorneys in Highland, Indiana. After 3 years I took a job as executive assistant in an East Chicago Law Firm followed by a job as executive assistant in a construction company in Highland before making the big move to a Real Estate/Tax Law Firm on LaSalle St. in Chicago.
Initially I took the South Shore Train to the city but opted to move to the suburb of Lisle, Il while continuing to work downtown.
In the Spring of 1977, I met Tim through his aunt with whom I bowled in a league in Hammond. A year later I was making the move to Florida following our wedding in July, 1978. Tim and I continue to live in Fernandina Beach, Fl. only about 4 miles from the Ocean and downtown Fernandina Beach.
RETIRED from Omni Amelia Island Plantation on June 30, 2014, after 36 years at the Resort which included working 20 years as a Conference Service Manager in the Conference Services Department, 9 years as Manager in the Banquet Operations Department and 7 years in the Conference Sales Department.
After 30 years of service with the Nassau County School Board as a teacher, then Transportation Director and finally Safety and Risk Management Director, Tim retired in March 2013.

ters, socializes them and then puts them up for adoption or releases them back to their caregiver. Sadly, we have lost several of our own precious kitties in 2019 and 2021 but we continue to enjoy the cuddles of our last 2 fur babies, Ranger and Rylee.
Over the last 9 years I have been involved in the Adopt a Soldier program with a close friend here in Florida. We gather and send personal care products. stationery, games, blankets and any other items requested by our troops throughout the year who are stationed all over the world.
Tim and I have had the opportunity to travel to many Countries across the pond as well as the United States. Hard to believe it has been 7 years since our Viking Cruise on the Danube and 4 years since our trip to the South Caribbean. Our last trip was 2 years ago to Nashville with friends and with my eldest sister, Thelma, to Anna Maria Island near Bradenton Beach. What a lovely location to witness the beautiful sunrises and sunsets daily. I continue to enjoy the AMI group on FB to continue to see the beauty that God shines on that Island every day.
I always think about our great Class of '67 and hope that all of you are doing well, have accomplished whatever you wanted in life and continue to be happy, healthy and prosperous.
I enjoy your visits to my Classmates Profile and invite you to drop a line or two and let me know what you are doing.
