Linda's Story

Catch 'em up on what you've done and who you are. After a couple of years as a secretary in San Antonio, I became a stewardess for American Airlines and flew with them for four and one half years. When I left the airline I began married life (to an American) in Sydney, Australia. His jobs took us to Antwerp, Belgium, Fort Worth, Texas; and Los Angeles, California. My husband dabbled in real estate and we lived in a number of homes in all the above named places as well as condos in Coronado, California and Las Hadas, Manzanillo, Mexico. We currently live in our second home in a small ski town in Crested Butte, Colorado. While in Fort Worth I became a docent with the Amon Carter and the Kimball Art Museums and in Los Angeles at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. This meant many years studying art history and writing the scripts that I would present to museum audiences of school age kids and adults. Now I'm trying to decide who will benefit most from my collection of art history and exhibition catalogs. We acquired our first companion animal, a cat, after we settled in Colorado and somehow four others followed. We now have four furry friends and have great difficulty finding a responsible caretaker to enable us to take extended trips. Over the years we have traveled extensively and continue to do so. nd to organizing all those photos and am filling albums as fast as I can buy them. My husband and I exercise daily and can't wait for warm spring weather to dry the trails so we can get out and run outdoors instead of on the treadmill. 5/6/14 Since I posted the above one by one our feline friends have passed away of diseases of advanced age. We're spending 4 months a year in Costa Rica, presently staying in a suburb of San Jose, Santa Ana, for two months, returning in the fall to spend the remaining 2 mos. We have found locating very near the center of the community of Santa Ana gives us the ability to walk to everything we need, including many nice restaurants and bars. We have yet to visit the volcano, rain forests or go zip lining and have been to a beach area once. We like the city. 9/1/21 As it has for most of us, COVID-19 put an abrupt stop to so much. We began self- isolating in our home in Colorado 2/20. Despite all our precautions, my husband contracted the virus but didn't have the symptoms the officials suggested looking for. After 6 weeks he and our doctor decided he should take a course of Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin and in 3 days he was much better. He does have long term after affects. Just when we thought it was safe to venture out we drove to Texas to look at real estate. Back to self-isolating.
