Linda's Story

Life Life passes by too quicly! Too many changes and too many lost friends! This small town girl from Norhtern Ontario has done quite a bit! Once I moved to Sydney, NS in 1984, I graduated a year later from Holy Angels High and went on to University at UCCB. I obtained my degree in 1988 in French and Political Science. I was able to accomplish a childhood asperation and work as a tour guide at the National Historic Parc of Louisbourg during the summers. A great way to pay for tuition. I continued my post secondary education at Dalhousie University in Halifax. It is during that time that I met my loving husband Harold an Electronic Technician in the Canadian Navy. We had a beautiful Wedding and Honeymoon on Cape Breton Island. After Dalhousie, I was accepted to Saint Mary's University in Halifax for my Bachelor in Education. I became a teacher in 1992 and have been teaching off and on since then. In 1993 Harold and I built a home in Tantallon, NS. A beautiful rancher that we liked very much. We started our family in 1995 with the birth of our first daughter Sarah and completed our small family with the addition of another little girl in 1997 who we named Victoria. In 1999, I left the work force started my own day care so that I could be with my girls full time, a sacrifice I have never regreted. My favorite thing is to be with my children they are my shinning light. 1999 was also the year my husband became a Military Officer and this would soon mean lots of changes. In 2002 we moved to Victoria. We travelled across the country Halifax-Victoria in 27 days, exploring and visiting on our way. What an adventure. While on the W...Expand for more
est Coast we lived right on the ocean. It is great falling asleep to the sound of the waves. We also took the opportunity to travel all over BC,to Seattle and the best trip of all to Hawaii. In 2004 it was time to move again, thanks to DND, this time to Ottawa. We packed up everything and travelled across the country once again! Is there any way to shorten the drive from Kanora to the Sault? So far we like Ottawa. ''C'est bien de vivre en Français encore une fois.'' My daughter Sarah is now 14 yrs old and my daughter Victoria is now 11 years old. They both attend a French School, like myself I want them to have the benefit of being completely bilingual. The last couple of years have been trying for my career as we moved a lot. I obtained my Teaching Certificate for the Province of Ontario but soon realized that I did not enjoy being back in front of a Junior High Class. I decided to leave teaching and took a position as Education Coordinator for DND here in Ottawa in July 2005. I really liked working at DND. I decided to take my advice and to go back to school and get my MBA. I was accepted to University of Ottawa in the French MBA Program. The Full Time program proved to be a little too intensive and I had to sacrifice all my family time. I like balance - A balance between family, work and school. So now it is 2009! Family life is great, I have a new Position as Divisional Administrator at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. Harold is getting ready to retire and we are just enjoying what life brings us. IT IS ALL GOOD! In hopes this finds you all well! STAY POSITIVE! Linda (Loiselle) Epton
