Linda's Story

Life I married my high school sweetheart, Larry Hambrick. After a wonderful 35 year marriage he passed away from leukemia. I worked at WABCO until our son Robert was born. When I returned to work, it was at Malcolm Southern. I left Malcolm Southern when Larry and I moved to Fayetteville GA. Larry attended the Trade School in Clarkesville, taught at SCHS until 1978 when he began work at Delta. He was still employed there when he passed away. I worked at National Linen's Headquarters in the middle of Atlanta (hated the traffic) for almost 15 years. I became disabled in 1995 and retired due to a balance disorder. God has been good to me. I survived a massive brain bleed when an aneurysm ruptured in 1997. I'm still kicking high but not as high as we did in "physical education". I'm a walking miracle two times over. Our son Robert (Rob) married the sweetest girl I could have as a "daughter". Her name is Sandy and they have one son. Hayden is almost three, cute as a button and loves his "Nana". I'd post my photograph but you'd go into shock. I ain't a skinny runt anymore. I'm very healthy as they say. I spend a lot of time with Hayden and Rob and Sandy. I also hang out with Rob's friends. I still have the mind of a teenager in the body of an old lady. I live in a super nice 55+ community with nice neighbors. I am the "community scribe" as they put it. I publish our monthly newsletter. It's tons of fun. We have pot luck dinners once a month on Saturday night at the clubhouse. Everybody gets out to walk (in warm weather). We usually d...Expand for more
on't get very far because we stop and gossip. I'm a NASCAR fan. Larry and I worked the races for several years as photographers. Had several photos published and knew most all the drivers, crews and owners. Larry was delighted to have his photo of Dale Earnhardt on the cover of the first issue of Speedway Illustrated following Dale's death. We also fished couples BASS tournaments for a number of years. We were never big winners but we made some great friends and always had fun. I always caught more fish. We rode motorcycles too. Yep, motorcycles with all the leather, boots and me in tight fitting jeans. I looked good in those jeans then. Goodwill has them now. Always active in church. Haven't been as much so lately. I find it hard to get involved in things as a "single" person. Being single again ain't fun but there a few advantages. I control the remote. I don't cook unless I want to and it's what I want to eat when I want to eat. I can sleep as late as I want to and not worry about going to bed until I want to. The driver's seat is always in my position and the radio is on my station or I'm playing my favorite CD's. The laundry is cut in half. The dishwashing is cut in half. Unfortunately, I'M CUT IN HALF. My favorite TV shows are NASCAR races -- Bonanze -- Law and Order -- American Idol -- House -- Grey's Anatomy. My all time favorite move is "Love Story" and my next favorite is anything starring Julia Roberts or Sandra Bullock. I could continue but I want another cup of coffee. Hope to hear from you. I'd love to hear from anyone.
