Linda's Story
I currently live in Long Beach. Married the Love of My Life, Mike Staniger, in 1997 and lost him to Suicide in 2010. He was very ill and had to check out.
I have one Son, Guion Hughes. Three Grandsons and one Granddaughter. She is in the picture with me at her graduation from UCLA in 2016. I also have one step Grandson and Granddaughter.
My son and his two boys and their half brother live with me now that I lost my husband. They keep me busy and very active.
I love gardening, museums, and road trips, and a member of the Huntington Library and go often.
In 2015 I had a massive stroke and by the Grace of God I am alive with no side effects.
Mike and I had our last road trip to Austin, TX in April, 2010 to see the Blue Bonnets in bloom. We went from there to Oklahoma to visit many of my cousins. We went to the Peterified Forest from there and we unable to go to the Grand Canyon because it was snowing on May 1. I took my two Grandsons to the Grand Canyon on Spring Break in 2015 and I had my stroke one week after we returned home. My youngest Grandson who is now 15 had his 12th birthday when we were at the Grand Canyon.
My son and Grandsons are in the process of planing a trip to San Diego and when we return we will go to Disneyland. I always had...Expand for more
passes for my Grandchildren but now that Disneyland got so greedy, I refuse to buy them again. Disneyland was so much fun when they were little.
My life long BFF, Ginger Henry went to Heaven in 2012. We became friends at Carmenlita and through Bell High and after we graduated until she passed away. We used to cruise Tweedy and have so much fun. Oh the Good Old Days and now Tweedy will never be the same.
I am still in contact with Carol Logreco, she lives in Downey and we have remained friends all these years. Carol and I used to cruise Tweedy as well.
I have two rescue dogs and they are very spoiled.
It would be nice to hear from some of my old classmates.
It seems wierd to be 70 years old now but happy I made it to that age.
I have had a very Blessed and fun life since graduating. I was a Bookkeeper my entire working life but when I married Mike I was able to retire.
My Granddaughter got married in August of this year, it was beautiful and fun. First big occasion I've been to where my X was there since 1992. We survived and had a great time.
I feel like I have said way too much. Funny to think my entire life has been pretty much told in this little space!
I am now a Great Grandma to Nicholas John McEwen, born June 3, 2019, So happy and proud!
