Linda's Story

I went to Franklin Elementary on Pine St and Trumbull from 1955 to 1966, Pelham Middle School located on Myrtle and 12th St., from 1966 to 1967 and, Western High School, from 1967 to 1969, located on Scotten, near Vernor Hwy in Southwest Detroit, Michigan. I graduated from Western High School on June 14, 1969. After graduation I went to work for Michigan Medical Services on September 4, 1969. My company is now known today as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. I worked there until my unwarranted termination on November 20, 2008, after 39 years and two months of service. I was married to Donald Charles Casing for about 5 years and we have a daughter named Jennifer. In addition I married my second husband Werner Wojcihowska in Germany, on December 19, 1994, who kindly took my maiden name as our married name. I also have a daughter named Melissa who just got married on June 14, 2008, to her beau Brian Mowrer. I am also the proud grandmother of five grandchildren, Alexis, age 21, Savannah, age 18 and Rodger, JR, age 6, Charles (Charlie) 4 1/2 and Brandon 3 1/2 years old. I graduated from Davenport University on April 26, 2009 with a Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Administr...Expand for more
ative Management. Maya Angelou, Martin Luther King and Hilary Clinton. They have paved the way for us in that they overcame Diversity, Prejudice (race and gender) and have made their names a part of our history. The two people from my past who I'd most like to see again is Hugh Scott and Ms. Strong because they were some of favorite teachers from Franklin Elementary school. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my family room and add on a new front porch. My dream home would be a house with a porch running around the whole house. That some of them never grow up. I share my home with my husband. My first job was at the Summit Theater located on Lafayette and Washington Boulevard, where I got paid 1.75 a show to seat people. What I remember most about it is I worked real hard and was not recognized for the hard work.. The mean old teacher who slapped me across the face for telling on her for her meanness, her name was Ms. Sellers. I t is ironic that she was the spinster to whose home was thought to be used as the murder scene for Jimmy Hoffa. I am a retiree who watches my grandsons full time until they go to school full time. I love crocheting, embroidering and fabric painting.
