Lisa's Story

Life Presently I'm taking classes at Nova Southeastern University in a Ph.D. program. Finished the Ed.S. degree last year. It's an online university. This school came highly recommended by other teachers I work with. The classes are hard because we are basically on our own. We have to follow directions to the "t". My niece lives in Utah with a Mennonite family. She is breaking horses and tossing hay. (She likes it) She is presently in a homeschool type of high school. She would like to take her GED. (Doug's daughter) Email me and let me know what is up with you. I'm in Costa Rica studying and starting to work with a program that teaches drama to children using conflict resolution methods to teach children nonviolent ways of solving conflicts. It is a lot more fun than I thought it would be. School Attended University of San Diego, summer school in Mexico. Last summer finished intensive refresher Spanish courses at the Univerity of Costa Rica. UCLA while living in LA, finished Master's Degree at University of Nevada, Reno. Lived in Rostock, Germany for one year working with school teachers who wanted to teach English. (after Berlin Wall fell) Went on an archeological dig in Central, Mexico while studying the Turascan Indians. Worked on the Paiute Indian Reservation for two years in Northern Nevada while doing research on poverty and its affects on the human condition. College Studied Spanish in Barcelona, Spain. Went to BYU right after high scho...Expand for more
ol, used to run into David Gross, off and on. His sister was a radio announcer for a local station there. Got a job working in the Governor's office for Hispanic Affairs so I transferred to University of Utah. Got engaged to one of my friend's brothers, graduated, moved to LA. Worked in the entertainment industry booking bands into fairs and rodeos across the country. They thought the small town girl was good for it. Workplace The most fun I had working was when I was a "shrill" in a cafe/bar in Austria one summer. The cafe owner would charge "mainly guys" drinks to sit and talk to me and play dice or cards, etc. (I know what you are thinking, but no!) They would buy me drinks all night long, but all I was really drinking was tonic water. lol Free room/board can't beat that. Also, one day I was coming out of restaurant in Reno and my old boyfriend from high school/college was on a billboard. He was running for the Supreme Court. I called him, he was really surprised to hear from me. I worked on his campaign. Sure, why not? When I was getting a passport in Los Angeles once, I was in the elevator and it was Bruce Jensen standing beside me. I couldn't believe it. He was getting one also to go to Japan. His company flew him from Phoenix that day just to process his passport. Dolly Parton's TV show was just cancelled and I was in between jobs. I wanted to go with him, but I guess he was through with me years ago! lol Oh yeah, I was still married.
