Lisa's Story

I've lived in Spokane all my life, except for a brief time in Palm Springs CA during Expo '74. (Doesn't everyone from here have to move to CA?) Now I'm in Spokane Valley. Married in '75 for 22 years, divorced in '97. But I survived! Have 2 grown kids, Joey, a p/t DJ and f/t Lyn-tron employee, Nicole, a divorced mom who's studying to be nurse and one granddaughter so far, Taryn. Worked at a moving company for 8 years until I became a mom in 1982. Then my "career" really started. A mother. Became a paralegal in 1989 and was elected a Freeholder in Spokane and helped keep Spokane County from becoming one big city. Inspired by May DiCicco (Hazzard), I battled the city council to stop the Waste to Energy plant but failed. I worked a variety of temporary office jobs after the divorce, like the Elections office; a real estate office; I entered tickets from the police into a computer; Pupo's Produce; and many other places. Last was GPA, a sports photography company, doing data entry, in the Spokane Valley for 4+ years. I loved the different kinds of work and met the neatest people. I'm with a great guy now. . I'm very happy, still smiling (although it's a bit crooked after my stroke) and would love to hear from my school buddies from the past. Had a stroke July 4th, 2005, but I'm still here!! It would be great to touch base with you all. Let's see if this works, I'm at lisa4588 at msn dot com. Email me and we can catch up! Keep smiling, Lisa P.S. Other things from the Story Wizard.... My biggest surprise in life is how FAST the years go by. Paul Northcutt was my first ...Expand for more
crush and my first boyfriend (1st grade) but he's dead now. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the kitchen and add on a door to a patio. But my dream home would be in the country. My current age is 53. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be dead. I was so completely clueless. I share my home with my friends when they visit, which I find very entertaining and enjoyable. I really enjoyed playing pool and have 2 trophies. The first for being on an undefeated team and the other for placing 4th out of 40 women. But that was in 1980. Now my mantel is filled with my son's trophies for car sound system competitions and DB Drags. In 10 years, I hope to be still alive. I'm going to get there by staying happy. At 12, my very first job was for my dad at Mr. Klean Car Wash. I collected the money for car washes and gas. Then I was promoted to bookkeeper; handling the payroll, bank deposits, and credit card receipts. A lot of responsibility for a then 13 year old girl. In 1973, I worked at a drive in, Pirate's Cove, where I got paid $4/hr to flip hamburgers and cook french fries. What I remember most about it were the hamburgers for only .19! The two people from my past who I'd most like to see again are my mom who died in 1996 and my dad who died in 1978. They always seemed to have the answers to life's problems and I loved them so. If I won $100 million, I'd give some of it to help others it need, (good Karma), then spend the rest buying a private island and invite all my friends to come live there too. I'd hope my friends would remember me kindly!
