Lisa's Story
Grew up in Hillcrest Heights, MD, fun, looking back on it now; after high school: 6 wk study/tour of Europe w/AIFS, fun; molested by my Methodist minister, not fun; Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA, fun times; internship w/USPS Hdqtrs, incl. Postmasters Convention, fun; traveled to Europe again, always fun; Auto-Train, Lorton, VA/Sanford, FL run, Hostess on train, 73-77, most fun job ever!; lived in Annandale, VA, fun; internship in office of US Senator Harry F. Byrd of VA, met important people-fun; US House of Representatives, Committee on Science & Technology 77-95, incl. Paris Air Show, 2 wk European trip, trips to Shuttle launches, trip through mid-west & Calif. (Congressional junkets), worked hard/partied hard, met lots of important & famous people, incl. celebrities, (I've always been a groupie), fun; lived/bought home in Annapolis, MD (Green St, loved Green St house, fun/bought Hillsmere Shores house, big yard for dogs, fun for them/I was never crazy for the house); left Capitol Hill when Newt & his Contract for America took over Congress for the 1st time in 40 yrs (of course, it had to be on my watch, so therefore, "ticked") not fun; sold house in Annapolis & moved to Blue Ridge Mountains of NW NC, originally exciting; carried mail/clerked part-time w/...Expand for more
USPS, 97-08, in the country-NOT the city, so it was fun; heart attack: a 100% blockage in 1 artery & a 80% blockage in another, 1 balloon procedure & 1 stent, they said I "circled the drain twice on way to hospital", so not fun; 3 mths later a subclavian steal bypass in neck, blood supply to left side of body was being 'stolen' therefore the term steal, couldn't even get a blood pressure reading in left arm, not fun; then later a TIA or TGA causing weird behavior, also, not fun; the final shot (hopefully, for now anyway) found that both vertebral arteries in my neck are totally occulated & an aneurysm affecting arteries suppling blood to the brain, inoperable due to placement, causing blackouts with certain neck movements, cutting off 50% blood flow turning neck 1 way & 40% (?) turning neck the other way, so I had to finally leave on disability when I started blacking out when driving, having "minor" car accidents, so that is pretty "sucky", not fun; & I stay basically house-bound, I live on my 68 acres, but in my itty bitty house with my 6 wonderful indoor, mostly huge, dogs: Baby Girl Irwin, Brown Brows, Freckles, Huggums, Feathers & Pudgy, housebound not fun, dogs I love to death, priceless, so lots of love & but not much room, in this tiny house! Love, Lisa
