Lisa's Story

Life Right after I graduated from Lincoln HIgh School, I went straight to Purdue University that summer to participate in the Business Opportunity Program where I had to take 4 courses to start my postsecondary education..five years later I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management degree, and a minor in Industrial Engineering. I had the opportunity to be a business intern with IBM in Boca Raton, FL and an engineering co-op with Harrison Radiator of GM in Dayton, OH during those five years. Unfortunately, during those years, I lost both of my parents a year apart to cancer, 85/86 respectively. After I graduated in '88, I traveled within the U.S., Cali, TX, D.C. and then I went over to Europe for 3 months, and visited Ramstein, Germany; Paris, France; and Lloret De Mar, Spain. I came back and worked for the Roberts' brothers (Mike and Steve) in St. Louis for a year before I landed a job with EDS that moved me to the Chicago area in 1989. And of course as you will see below, life took on a different route. My Kids I was blessed with a sweet and beautiful girl named Naomi Candace Mitts, currently age 18. Her name is biblical; Naomi means delightful and pleasing to the Lord and Candace was an Ethiopian Queen who spread the gospel throughout eastern Africa; all of the queens of Ethiopia subsequently were given this name. And I must say that our Naomi is truly living up to the legacy of both names. And of course, I was also blessed with a charming, adventurous little man, currently age 16, whose name is Xavier Matthew Mitts. His first name means "brilliant", and his middle name, Matthew, has the biblical meaning "a gift of GOD". And I must say that he is truly a gift, because he survived meconium, his first bowel movement, before he was born. He came out as a healthy baby boy. An...Expand for more
d I definitely give all praises to the Lord for his survival. And of course, his teachers keep saying how brilliant he is? My Job For most people that knew me, they were aware that I loved math. So it was only natural for me to pursue an area that dealt with logic, analysis, and/or computation. Therefore, my primary job is an information system developer. I have 24+ years of service at HP Enterprise Services(formerly EDS). I also love my part-time job of preparing income taxes for HR Block. I am on my 23th year. I am an Enrolled Agent, which means I can represent my clients in the Tax Courts. However, it is time consuming now that I have children, but I have to stay current with it because it is here to stay. We had temporarily relocated to the Silicon Valley area in August 2007 in a community called Cupertino, CA. However, we moved back to Chicago during the down turn of the economy in February, 2009. So if you ever visit the Chicago area, feel free to contact me. My other half was missing Cali because he loves the business there but of course the cost of living is outrageous there so I do not miss it at all. So of course, he is now back out there in San Jose, CA. The kids and I stayed back here so my daughter could finish out her high school years at Bolingbrook High School. Her school kinds of reminds me of Lincoln. They are excelling in most of the sports, such as track, football, and basketball. They just won state championship for 8A football. Their girls basketball team has won state the last 3-4 years. The girls track team always give East Side a run for their money at the various meets. In fact, one of the relays have been first a time or two at the state level. And the best thing about Bolingbrook, it is right off 55 which is only a hop, skip, and jump from East Saint Louis.
