Lisa's Story
Life
still living and breathing well in Manhattan with fellow artist rommate and two felines, Mantra and Dr. Oliver Zhivago... time filled with plays, playwriting, painting, poetry, characters, novels, jazz, raw foods, dancing, singing, loving, meditation, spice, yoga, people. Donations are accepted.
College
Loved studying psychology and englishat NYU, put me on the proper road to insanit, peeled open my literary horizons. Being alone has sparked poetry in me.
Studied postbacc pre-med at Columbia University, and well, it excited me for the first week each semester, soon after sent me running off in chaotic directions, and eventually offered me the fever.
The fever out of which I emerged with my new life/old life: the life of the artist. Then I got to act and write plays under the pseudonym of getting a master's degree!
Now, I work some of the strangest jobs you can imagi...Expand for more
ne, live on carrots and tuna and dried fruit, and chase after truth with the remaining energy.
Workplace
Years in a neuroscience lab doing brain surgery on rodents and giving them psychostimulants and "the usual." Wound up thinking I truly wanted to be a brain surgeon, on humans! But, my boss and her Spanish family essentially adopted me, for which I am very grateful.
Then there was the "baby lab" doing research on language acquisition, as a paralegal at a personal injury law firm (nauseating), a proofreader, an assistant to a physicist, a cocktail waitress at a french restaurant, a petsitter, a piano accompanist for an opera singer or two, a piano teacher for adults (I need kids. Help!), a professional dominatrix, an actor, a poet, a playwright. And this is where I stop. I pretend to make money as an artist. Really, I just meditate a lot. And don't look past the moment...
