Lisa's Story
Life
Ater leaving Istrouma High School, I attended LSU and Southern University. While at Southern, I met my husband, Willie Warren, Jr. He is from Benton Harbor, Michigan and just couldn't resist my southern charm:-)He is a mechanical engineer and his job has taken us to several places over the years. We have 4 wonderful girls. Ashley is 24 and is a graduate of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Courtney is 22 and she is a student at Armstrong University in Savannah, Georgia. Porche' is 20 and she attends Furman University in Greenville, SC. Kristen is the last of my bunch that's still at home. She is starting 9th grade. I guess a boy just wasn't in the plans for us! They really keep us busy and make life so interesting. Since leaving Baton Rouge, we have resided in Michigan, North Carolina, Arkansas, and now reside in Georgia. If you're ever down this way, please look us up!
School
There were many teachers that inspired me, but I would have to say that Ms. B. Davis had a huge impact on me. She was a great teacher and the ultimate professional, however, she knew how to relate to her students in a personal way.
College
I recently went back to college to complete my Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Management at Covenant College in Lo...Expand for more
okout Mountain, Georgia. I graduated in May of 2004. This was a goal that I had put off too long. I'm glad it's over and I'm preparing to go back and get my Master's Degree in Human Resources.
Workplace
I've been employed in the health insurance industry over 12 years. I started out in customer service and I'm currently a business operations analyst in the business engineering division of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. I work very closely with industrial engineers and we attempt to improve/enhance business processes throughout the company. I've actually hit that point in life where I'm considering changing careers. I have a love for community service and helping others, so I'll probably venture into the non-profit sector where I can help in improving the lives of others.
Military
No military experience for me, other than being the wife of a Marine! My spouse has been in the Marine Corps since his freshman year at Southern University. He was on active duty for 4 years, then he switched over to reservist status. He was called up for active duty in 2004 and served 8 months in Iraq. He made it back safely in 2005. Praise be to God! After serving his country for over 20 years, we are anxiously awaiting his retirement next year. Ooh-rah!!!!
