Lisa's Story

Midway through high school in Milton I went to live with my dad and stepmom so graduated from Parer H.S. in Janesville. A few years at UW-Whitewater, then Blackhawk Tech for Associates Degree in Police Science. Worked for Fotomat and the YWCA before getting married to a Minnesotan in 1984. (2009 will be our silver wedding anniversary.) He worked for Sprint so we moved to HQ in Kansas City for his job promotion. I worked for Informix Software five years and then Kinetic Concepts (specialty hospital beds) for almost six years. Job position relocated to Dallas and I did not. Unemployment here I come! A month later was working at Sprint too and then the spin-off company, Embarq until hubby retired in 2008. I volunteered for a separation package so my 11 years got me 22 weeks extra at full pay. October 10, which meant my first day of "freedom" was October 11....my 50th birthday. Now THAT'S what I call a present! Woohoo! We moved to our cabin on a small heart-shaped lake in northern Wisconsin in Oct 2008 and absolutely love it. It is SO GOOD to be back in my home state. Love the country life, the climate, the wild life...I think even the air is better. Due to my fertility problems, we have kitties instead of kiddies so spoil the nieces and nephews rotten. Not sure if I'll have to job hunt up here, will see how things go financially. This natural night owl does not miss getting up early for a job. ;p Plus, there are so many things on my To Do list...including getting reacquainted with family and friends I haven't seen in a long time, genealogy research, and indulging in my favorite hobby...scrapbooking.
