Lisa's Story
Life
I'm married and have 2 daughters, 1 dog, 1cat, 1bunny, 1 turtle, and MANY pet rocks pulled from Lake Superior. I have 17 nieces and nephews.(13 just from my side, ages 13,10,8,7,5,3,3,3,3,2,(2)11mths,9mths.)Husbands side, 11,9,7,2mths)My brother Duane& his wife had twins last year. That was fun!Christmas is a blast!Tots everywhere! My mom had 4 new grandchildren in 6 mths. I refused to drink the same water, it had to be something in the water. Everytime we turned around a sister or sister-in-law was prego.
My girls are in girl scouts, therefor so am I. I like being a leader, we go to some cool places. I'm also a leader at awanas. I work for Hampton Inn, as the week-end night auditor/manager. I really enjoy it. My best friend just took a teaching job in Alaska, so now we're saving to go to Alaska. I've always wanted to go, just couldn't figure out the how and why of it, ya know? So now that I have a good reason to go, were a saving. Well if you read on, this is what I went through last year. I guess I wrote it out incase someone else is going through a hard time and thinking all hope is gone...there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Push On!
Midnight New Years Eve 2006, I walk outside to bang pots and pans with everyone, and I get a lump in my throat, my body starts to tremble, and my breathing is rapped. I hear 10,9,8,7,...1 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! 2007! I can't breath, all of a sudden I'm sobbing, shaking, crying. I hug my husband and he just holds me tight. For the longest time I couldn't let go. We made it! You see 2006 was a VERY trying of my faith year. In January of '06 I wasn't feeling well and had a ton of test done. Finally they figured out what was going on with me, I had colon cancer. (this is what my dad died of back in '87) Once they found that out I had surgery the next week. My father-in-law was diagnoist with the same kind of cancer,we were to have our surgeries on the same day, different hospitals. My poor husband was beside himself wit...Expand for more
h worry. This was in March, it took awhile for them to figure out what was going on with me. Had my surgery. Then I had to start 24hour/7days a week chemo for 8wks,( when that was done it was 24/3days every 2 weeks, till Thanksgiving.) and 5 days a week radiation for 8wks. This was hard. See Gene(husband)had just started a new job in Dec. of '05 which took him away from home 6weeks at a time. We have 2 girls, Sydney is 11 and just started Jr. high. and Samantha is 7, she's in 2nd grade now. So my girls went threw a lot, mom sick, dad out of town. ( thankful that I have 7 younger brothers and sisters, WHAT A HELP) Gene finally was able to get a more local job where he was home every night, and could take care of me. The summer was boring with me being sick all the time. Then it's time for school to start back up. The night before we're at my sisters for a BBQ, Gene is playing basketball with our nephew & daughter, walks inside the house and HITS THE FLOOR! He was rushed to the hospital and spent a week in intencive care. He had all the heart test done, thank God they could find anything wrong. Scary! I once said" I just need to make it threw this year. I hate this year!" my mom was there, turned and gave me my humble pie lesson of life. "We all go threw things it's how we handle them. You my dear should be greatful. Your alive. Your husband is alive. You have 2 healthy, beautiful, smart girls. Some people just dream for that much, where you've made it, others haven't." Leave it to a mom to slap the whinning right out of you even all these years later. So when New years came, there was the finish line for me. The end of a really faithwalking, character building year! I had not realized how much I held that finish line date in me, that when it was here I was pysically reacting to finishing the year. With the kiss of the start of 2007, we have been having a glorious year. GOD always only gives you what you can handle. I've learned that one, threw many a trials. Love-Lisa
