Lisa's Story
Life
I live in Birmingham, AL, where I have been for the past 20 years. I'm the mom of two beautiful little girls, partner in a great law firm, and have a great life. My husband Ray is also a lawyer. We have a commuter marriage - he's in Atlanta. We have a chocolate brown standard poodle. His name is Teddy.
School
I moved so much, it's hard to remember much about any one school - especially the early ones! Brown Deer - I remember my closest friend was Linda. At Craig Middle School, it was Julie Johnson. We had a great time together. Sharon lived down the street from me; she was the most popular girl around, but I couldn't be jealous of her because she was so nice to everyone. Besides, our moms were best friends and stayed close for many years even though we moved away.
Maitland - that's where it all starts to come back to me. I was only there for 9th grade, but remember it well. James Sammons was my first real boyfriend. Sharon and Alissa were the people I hung aroun...Expand for more
d with most. Oh the nights we spent at Sgt Peppers, doing God knows what . . . . Whatever it was, it wasn't good. I also remember riding the bus with David Hildebrandt.
At Edgewater, I mostly had the same buddies that I spent my time with. Had a big crush on a guy named Bernard. I left Edgewater and took my last two classes at Seminole CC so I could go ahead and start college at UCF early, so I wasn't there for graduation.
Military
So many Army bases, mostly in crummy locations! My favorite will always be Fort Totten, located in Bayside, Queens, NY. Bruce and Scott Matta were my dearest friends back then. We spent many an afternoon and evening playing cops and robbers, climbing around the old Civil War era fort, using the fire escape to go into the old closed up officer's club (the castle, as we called it then). I especially remember the great time we had on Halloween, running all over the base collecting candy, sans grown-ups. It's too bad you can't let kids do that today.
