Liz (or Cordie)'s Story
Life
I've always been the "outdoors" type. I enjoy the mountains a bit more than the ocean, but anything is better than concrete. The only city I think is worth visiting was known for "Peace and Love", flower power, the Zodiac Killer and the Filmore district. I grew up in San Francisco during the 60's! The best thing about growing up in California is that I could be outside all the time, the weather never stopped you from doing great things. Wine tours and snow skiing are on the top of my list, things I've enjoyed since I was very young.
Workplace
After the great training I got in the military I went off into the "real world" and got into the computer industry. I worked my up through the food chain in a time when almost no one had a degree, or at least it had nothing to do with computers. Eventually I moved from product development into product management, and I worked for a national distributor. Then the market collapsed, and I felt it would be safest...Expand for more
to take an opportunity I had to go full time military again, so I landed a civil service job working on jets. It was like being a kid again, and I loved it ... climbing around on planes, getting dirty and working in all sorts of weather. A far cry from the office scene! Now, I'm back in the office, but still in the military/civil service. This new job is a lot like what I did for the computer distributor in some ways, but it's all about aircraft (my first love.)
Military
I've enjoyed being in the Air Force since I went on active duty back in 1978. One of the best decisions I ever made. I did my four years, and went into the reserves so that I could continue to work on aircraft part time. I always enjoyed the travel and friends I've met. In 1987 I changed over to the Air National Guard where I am now. I can retire anytime, but I'm still enjoying the travel to far off places. I've been to Kuwait several times, most recently during the war in March 2003.
