Liz's Story

Liz is from Slaughters, Kentucky. Liz's schools include Newburgh High School. Liz works(ed) at Retired. I worked for Dr. Kenneth Wilhelmus in the office, helped give shots, sterilize instruments, take blood pressure etc. for one year. Then I worked at SIGECO in the Accounting Dept. for almost 8 years until I was pregnant with my first daughter. I loved working there as I kept the Gas and Electric books and every day was different. I balanced the books and then typed all of the bills that was paid and the income. I married James M Loehr on April 22, 1950 at St. John's Catholic Church. We lived between Newburgh and Yankeetown for 7 years. We bought the Angel farm on Ferstel Road and intended to move there when Alcoa built up there. en Henderson and Madisonville, Ky. We had 2 daughters. Lea Ann Loehr Sugg and Linda Loehr Shelton. Both girls arw in the Medical field and work at Baptist Hospital at Madisonville, Ky. Lea Ann graduated with a degree in Nursing from U Ky. and Louisville. BS in Nursing. Linda is an X-Ray Tech and went to U Ky, USI and Evansville University. I have 4 grandchildren, two boys and two girls and I have 10 great grandchildren, 5 girls and 5 girls. One great grandchild is married and teaches at a College in Franklin, Ky. I lost my husband 8 years ago from COPD. We were married almost 59 years. I have spent most of my married years as a volunteer. Church, 4_H leader, Library Board, Home Ec. Schools PTA. High School Band reworking uniforms etc. I also take people to the Dr., Dentist etc. I sew, crochet, knit, piece quilts and quilt. I have had a great life!

Happy Mother's day to my Mom in heaven.  This photo was taken of her in Anniston, Alabama during WW1 while Dad was stationed there.  She worked there as a waitress.
