Lora's Story
In 1987, after a failed marriage, I took a job in the San francisco Bay area, thinking I'd stay for 3-5 years, (to bolster my resume), and then return to life in Seattle. But, surprise of surprises, I found that I really liked it here!
In 1991 I met the man who would become my husband, and that settled it; I would be here until we are both retired. I retired in 2006 from 30 years of retail operations management, and, in the process of looking for a place to put my energy as a volunteer, stumbled into, what looks to be, a second career! ning program for in home caregivers of Dementia/Alzheimer patients, as well as individual in home care and support plans for seniors with Dementia/Alzheimer's or other disabilities. I must say, it is, hands down, the most rewarding thing I've ever done! It's so nice to know, at the end of the day, that you made a real difference in the quality of someone life.
My hobbies are jewelry making, hiking, gardening, reading, and continuing my studies in Social Sciences. I have a grown daughter and son and four grandchildren and am married to the man of my dreams. Life is good.
