School
I was in the batch of first freshman who stayed at John Young Middle School. It was actually great! We got to be the oldest for two years running. I was a cheerleader in 8th grade at Main and Young, and in 9th grade at Young. We were big fish in a very small pond and we loved it. Can you believe they recently completed a major renovation/addition to OLD John Young?
Life after High School
I would like to think that we have all grown up and realize that high school is not the pinnacle of life. What bothers me most is knowing that some classmates felt left out in school, or have changed physically too much for their own comfort and these things keep them from attending class reunions. We are grown-ups now (most of us) and are all more the same than different. We all have a common history, growing up in a lovely town and an overall great environment. should be no petty differences remaining. Sadly, there is. It's a shame, really, when someone would purposely hurt someone else. We are all just trying to live our lives. In Sept. 2017, we held our 40th Reunion!!! We had a pretty good turnout and LOTS of fun!
After seeing the fun on FB, many who did not attend regretted it. So let's get EVERYONE there next time! Remember what it was like to be young and stupid? Come see how much
smarter we are now.
Kids and Grandkids
One of the interesting differences in the lives of classmates is kids and grandkids. By our 20th reunion, several classmates were already granparents, while a couple had just had babies. I am right in the middle, having waited till I was 27 to have the first child. It will still be a while (fingers crossed) before I'm a grandma, but I will be a surrogate to Nancy's (Wetzel Rensberger) granddaughters, born spring 2008, 2009, and 2016. That's close enough for me, for now.
