Lora's Story

Life Where are all the friends I knew in High School? I never made it to any reunions, bummer. Hope everyone is living their dream. I went to ASU for two years and BYU for two and a half years. I got a bachelor of science degree in travel and tourism (lots of geography and business courses) and a minor in Russian. I then proceeded with a career in travel and traveled to many countries and states. I especially enjoy cruising. After 20 years, I was done with that career and chose to be a stay at home mom with my one and only daughter that I had at the age of 37. I now work as a substitute teacher for preschool thru 5th grade and I really enjoy it. I am the Rabbit Project leader for 4-H here in Payson. I love small-town life, being in the mountains where we have 4 seasons. I love autumn leaves and snowy days, rare in Phoenix. I got married at the age of 31. I met him at a church dance. He was an Air Force policeman. We dated every day after our first date, got engaged one month after knowing each other, and married 3 months after we met. We will have been married for 17 years this September. We lived in Chandler, Mesa, Prescott, Phoenix, and then bought our first house in Gilbert, where we lived for 10 years. We moved to Payson in 2005 where I could help out my parents. My husband, Shaw, works for SRP and commutes from Payson to Mesa to work. He doesn't mind the drive as it is much better scenery than being in bumper-to-bumper traffic on valley freeways. We don't like the gas prices, however. So, we may be moving to Apache Junction this coming year, close to his job. Our daughter, Sabrina, has her dad's great looks and her mom's brains. She gets straight A's and loves to read. She is spoiled rotten because she is loved so much. We love travelling together, especially cruising, dining out, playing games, watching movies, and going for scenic drives around Arizona. My husband and I have both of our parents, married for all eternit...Expand for more
y, all going thru health issues now and then. We are very close to both sides of the family, go to church most every Sunday, have a nice home and two cars, and are surrounded by lots of pets. We spend lots of time with our parents and siblings. Just an average, happy, American family working hard to enjoy our lives. In my free time, I interact with my pets, garden, work on the house or yard, do scrapbooking, travel, read, and even enjoy a nap now and then. I love to watch movies, but I am not into tv much. I still love 80's music. I rarely get to my e-mails and end up deleting most of them without reading them unless they are not something that was forwarded. Direct and personal e-mails I do read and answer, when time permits. Our goal right now is to simplify our lives and get rid of lots of stuff -- I have way too much stuff. Guilty as charged. I refuse to pack it up and move it all with us again. :) That will make my hubby very happy. I found out that I have great people skills, I am very loyal to my friends and like to keep in touch, I am a good cook and try hard to keep my home clean and organized, but have learned that sometimes you have to let some things go. "The world is a book, and if you have not traveled, then you have read only one page." Family is what matters the most to me, I am married to my best friend, and I value health and days where I am not in pain. Being in debt is not worth the stress. I believe in life after death and in the second coming of Christ. I am still religious and still LDS. I never smoked or did drugs -- those vices and drinking were never enticing to me. I have a beautiful collection of blue carnival glass, Thomas Kincade paintings and love to play board games. My traditional way of celebrating New Year's Eve is to have friends and family over for an all night game marathon. My favorite holiday is Christmas, minus the gifts. I love going for walks in fresh falling snow when all the world is at peace.
