Lori's Story

Holy cow! the thought of going back that far and putting it all down is a bit overwhelming but, here goes. After graduation I went to work in the semiconductor industry. Started on the assembly line and left as a trainning specialist 18 years later. Managed (?) to stay single until the ripe old age of 25, just being "free, white, and 21" (or so the I.D. stated prior to the real thing) I must say, times were good and I had a ball! I met my husband at a job interview in 1980, where he hired me and the rest, as they say, is history. Though they said it was impossible, I gave birth to my miracle baby girl in 1987 (don't ever tell me I can't do something, I love a challenge!) She just graduated from UC Davis in June. Where does the time go? She is 22, engaged to a Marine who will become a CHP as soon as the military allows. To say I'm proud is an understatement! I also have three stepkids, all grown up now (were 10, 9, & 3 when we got together) and yes, they have made me a grandma. Love the position! We made the decision to leave the Bay Area so that I could be a stay-at-home mom. To stay required two incomes. S...Expand for more
o we sold the condo, which was in the works anyway since HWY 85 was about to reek havoc on both sides of the complex (lived in Los Gatos Woods, off Pollard) , and moved to Cameron Park, about 9 miles west of Placerville. My husband continued to work in Sunnyvale (3-4 day workweek) for the first 4 years. Best move we ever made. We moved further up the HWY 50 corridor to placerville about 8 years ago and live quietly on a little mountain surrounded by nature. Love it! My parents are gone now and my siblings(there were 7, now 6) are all over the state. For those of you that knew my brother Brad, he passed away in January, 1988. Was a great loss. He was truely one of the kindest souls on the planet. Guess it's true, only the good die young. Now that my baby is all grow'd up I find myself looking for something to fill my time. Looking for work but, having not worked for 20 years and given the economy, it's challenging to say the least. Well, that's the Readers Digest version of the last (choke, cough) 37 years. So many stories in between, oh, so many!! Did I mention that prior to setteling down I had a ball???????
