Loretta's Story

Life My skills as a secretary have made me a "jack of all trades". My experience has been in engineering, medical, legal, marine sales, and President of our Homeowner's Association. So I am working "full time" without pay. We used to RV, tour on a 750 Yamaha, cruise in a 1964 T-Bird hardtop & convertible, and recently sold our 1967 Mustang convertible. Still like old cars, and dancing to rock & roll music! Don't have much time for hobbies these days, but am always learning something new. "Retired" to Centralia in December 1999. This town is like Seattle in the 50s, people are polite and friendly, no traffic, you can get a LIVE person on the phone, etc. Have been married (this time) going on 35 years on September 30, 2013 to a guy from Ballard, Class of 1954. Jack has two daughters - Michelle who lives in CleElem and has two sons, Tyler and Corey - Wendy who lives in Auburn and has a son Kesean and a daughter AJ. Shortly after moving to Centralia, I lost both my parents. Suddenly being an only child has a brand new meaning - orphen! Have been to Europe, and most of the states except Alaska and Hawaii. Prefer now to take short trips close to home - the Oregon coast is a favorite. I have grey/silver hair like my dad, am overweight like my mother, but on a good hair day, I still feel sexy! So, life goes on, we take the good with the bad, and hope for the best... Always being painfully shy, I challenged myself when I was 50. or a show at the Bon. I was selected, and the now picture is a head shot from my modeling days. You are never too old to learn or try something new! In case you were wondering, according to my husband, I look the same now as I did then - have trouble getting the hair right, but the face is the same. Workplace A few years back I was nominated for President of our Homeowners Association. Being basically shy, this was a challenge for me. Fortunately, I have years of office experience, and know how to think on my feet. Basically, I do it all, get bids/schedule maintenance, make up spreadsheets for expenses and budgets, use my "creative writing" skills, have become a confident speaker, handle complaints, you name it, I do it. I get paid with flowers, homemade jam, and the feeling that I am doing a good job for the community. There are days when I am totally burned out because this is a 24/7 job, but as long as people look to me for guidance, I will be there to help. 2013 Update My husband has bone cancer - given 1-3 years - 2 down, 1 to go - we are basically living in denial - don't think about it or worry about it - just live each day as it comes - he has good days and not so good days, but has a good attitude - it is what it is... Classmates Update Haven't been active since around 2008 I think, but will give it another year - I feel bad that perhaps people were trying to contact me thinking I was rude not responding, but unless you update you're kinda screwed. updated January 24, 2013
