Loretta's Story
Life
I graduated McCullough, went to Jackson State, graduated 1971. I attended Meharry '71-'75 graduated with a degree in dentistry. I practice oral and maxillofacial surgery. I am married (2nd), no children and I love life.
School
My biggest crushes...Glen Jett and Harold Stewart.
Teacher who inspired me most...Mrs. Gladys Wells.
I would do it over again.
Funniest...still thinking, perhaps you can help me.
Happiest...When my father finally agreed to let me go on a date with Dobie for the Jr. prom. He tortured me by telling me he would be following behind or worse yet, my mother would be in the car with us! Next happiest...Class Salutatorian
Craziest...One day I was acting up in class in Mr. Physical Science Instructor's room. I said "all you have to do is show up and you will get a "C"...well, Mr. Wells was listening on the PA system and he quickly corrected me. I was embarassed and that was the craziest thing I did there. Now college is entirely different:-)
College

nrolled in college in August, 1968. I was in the Thirteen Colleges Career Program. That was wonderful because several of my high school friends were in the same program, Charles Peyton, Hurriah Peyton and others. My favorite teachers were Mr. Anthony Brown the Biology teacher. I enjoyed my English teacher, Della ( Jennifer Hick's sister). She was no-nonsense. I especially grateful to the chairman of the Biology department because he encouraged us to get advanced degrees.
My first boyfriend was Larry (Bill) Lucas, DJ at KJLH or whatever the Black radio station with Poppa Rock. My niece was visiting me and Jackson State, we went to see Bill at the station and Brenda, then 6 or 7 locked Bill out of the station in the middle of his show. That was funny, hearing the hissing sound and no music from the station.
My days pledging Delta were fun. The Big Sisters did not "scare" me until near the end of Hell Week. I am happy to say many of us keep in touch today. Will continue later.
