Loretta's Story
I attended Annville Institute from 8th grade thru graduation in 1966. My wonderful parents, Edwin Lakes and Ella Hensley Lakes graduated in1942. A special aunt Evelyn Lakes Sinclair also graduated 1942. My sister Sharon Lakes Buckingham was a year ahead of me. My first cousin Viola Hensley Johnson graduated in 1960. She worked in the administrative office at Annville for many years. Attending Annville was somewhat of a family tradition. I loved being in the choir at Annville and traveling on spring concert tours. I was a cheerleader a few years which is a shock to me as I am not the least bit athletic!
I graduated from Berea College in 1970. While there I married my husband of 45 years, Jerry Miller. We have one son & one grandson who is now in high school. We moved to Panama City Beach Fl in 1970. I had a double career. We owned a convenience store & gift shop for over 30 years which had belonged to y husband' s famil...Expand for more
y. I also worked for many years for the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration as a Program Administrator and supervisor. We sold our business and have both retired as of last fall. We still live close to the beach. I am a one year breast cancer survivor and some volunteer work for the cancer society. I still sing in the church choir and a Ladies Group. We love to travel and have some trips planned. I also love to fish and we do so in the bay here in Panama City. We are very active in our church. I was very sick when retired in Oct. 2014 so am just now getting to enjoy life again in 2015. I have learned that God, family and friends are most important as we are not promised tomorrow and I hope to re- establish old friendships that I have neglected,
I am ashamed I have never attended an Annville reunion but hope to change that next year. life gets in the way...
