Lori's Story
Life
In June of 2000, I divorced and moved to West Yorkshire, England. I really love living over here, and don't see myself ever moving back to the States. I met and married a wonderful man here, and we share a lovely life together.
Having seen a lot of the world, I appreciate more the things I had growing up. Above all, I value my education. That which I received as a young person, and the continual learning I experience now.
I am proud of my children, and the things they have accomplished. My son recieved his master degree in England, and has returned to get his PhD from Cambridge. My daughter is an accomplished career woman, and an outstanding mother. She delivered my second grandchild in September 2007, and she is such a beautiful baby! I was there for the birth and enjoyed my visit.
Recently, I did something I never even dreamed of.
I delivered an address before 150 plus people, and met Princess Anne. She wasn't at all what I expected her to be like. She was funny and charming, and thanked me for the work I do with families and children in Britain. She appealed for money to support the work I do. I felt so honoured, and so proud. ...Expand for more
Who would have thought that a girl from Fort Thomas would someday rub elbows with royalty?
I am painting, selling some artwork, and do some teaching of art classes for adults. The classes are more about personal development than they are about technique.
My work is developing projects for families and children to help them feel more confident, to overcome barriers in their lives, and to live full and productive lives.
If you ever are granted a wish, ask that you be transported to Italy. It is heaven on earth. Forget the gondola ride. There is nothing more wonderful than dancing with the one you love, under the stars, while the orchestra plays in St Marco's Square in Venice. And, if you are really lucky, take in Florence, too. Whether you are walking along the Ponte Vecchio, or sitting in a quiet corner dining on the most wonderful food ever created, you will thank God you are alive. I love Italy.
I feel blessed to be able to live my dreams. I have a wonderful husband, live in a beautiful place, and have the freedom to paint and develop as an artist. Life hasn't always been easy for me, but I am happy at last. I truly hope you are, too.
