Lori's Story
Life is good.
I am happily employed as a Registered Nurse,
specializing in dialysis. I live in a beautiful home with my husband Daniel, my cats Boo-Boo & Ferris Bueller. No children yet, so Dan & I have been traveling the globe. We love to discover new places, great beaches, different cultures & different (or any type of) food!
I've been busy with our ever-expanding family & group of friends-(we are in the 'baby' years). I enjoy cooking (the Rachel Ray way), a good movie, a great bargain, house hunting, any interior decorating show, gardening, walking (or any activity that gets me outdoors), Dos Equis beer, fine wine & good company.
I hope one day to catch up with those I've lost contact with, as life is short & time is quickly passing us by....
School
I really had two high school experiences. My first was attending South Weymouth High School. I loved it there. Hangin out with the friends I grew up with. We had fun, occasionally got into trouble & learned lessons about love and life.
My second experience began when I moved to Abington as a junior.
Missing my old life, I took many classes (and myself too seriously). I never gave AHS or my classmates a real chance. I met many good people & regret never truly being a part of the experience. But if my memories serve me correct, AHS had the BEST cafeteria f...Expand for more
ood around. I still remember the spaghetti & meatballs w/FRESH baked bread. I also remember "cute" Mr. Kent, spending every afternoon in detention, Friday coloring days in Latin class, Mr. Currents "Debits=credit" course, actually learning to speak & read Arabic, having teachers that actually care, and last but not least--MY BIG HAIR!
College
I first attended UMass Boston in Business, then switched to Nursing and attended Laboure College. When completed, I took a few yrs off to get my feet wet (& married)-then tried some local colleges' BSN programs. I finally graduated with my BSN from
Emmanuel College, and I'll be beginning my master's
degree to become a Nurse Practitioner at UMass
Worcester in the fall.
Workplace
Since college, I became an Registere Nurse working in Med/Surg/Orthopaedics, then tried temping & liver transplant nursing. I then found my current position as charge nurse in an outpt hemodialysis clinic. I also do acutes & on-call dialysis.
I have learned many lessons about life through nursing & I look forward to the challenges ahead that it will bring me. I am exited about finally obtaining
my BSN & my future studies at UMass Worcester.
I hope that life allows me to continue my studies
and become the NP I always dreamed of - I just have
to accept that I will be a lifelong student...
